Hey there guys, Matt here from Lubbock Appliance, and today I would like to share with yall how to Air-Fry a turkey in our Frigidaire Electric Double Wall Oven. Now this is ABSOLUTELY my new favorite way to cook turkeys or any large bird for any occasion, as it is EXACTLY like oil-frying the bird, but without all that unnecessary fat! I mean healthy cooking is good, right?
Okay, so first thing you want to do is take out all the racks of the oven leaving only the rack that will allow you to center the bird in as close to the middle of the oven as possible. The reason being is that you will place the turkey directly on the center rack to allow the circulation of the Air-Fry/Convection fan to reach the entire bird.
Next, I like to line the floor of the oven with aluminum foil and then place a foil lined pan (in this case, I used an old broiler pan i had lying around) on the foil-lined oven floor to catch the unnecessary oils and fats that will drip off of the turkey. Again, you can already see how much healthier this bird is going to turn out, versus ANY other way I have cooked one in the past.
Next step is to pre-heat the desired oven to an Air-Fry temperature of 350 degrees Fahrenheit. This ensures that the turkey cooks evenly and achieves that perfect balance of crispy skin and juicey Interior.
So now, you want to unwrap the turkey , removing the bag of organs that is inside the cavity, drain the turkey, rinse it off and pat it dry, using either paper towels, napkins, or cloth towels. Then, rub the entire turkey with a desired oil and season with a dry rub. For my turkey, I like to use vegetable oil and salt and pepper, making sure that I coat and season under every wing, leg, and also the inside of the cavity of the bird. I also remove the organs from the bag and place the liver, lungs, and heart back into the bird to cook those as well. My suggestion here is to not use olive oil, as it does have a distinct flavor that might not be desired, based upon your selection of the dry rub.
Now, you are ready to place the turkey directly on the center rack and cook the turkey until all of the internal temperatures reach 165 degrees Fahrenheit. The timing of this is roughly 8 to 12 minutes per pound, but again, as long as your birds internal temperatures reach 165 degrees Fahrenheit the bird is safe to consume. Once the turkey is done, remove from the oven and let rest for another 45-60 minutes to allow juices of the turkey to absorb back into the meat..and enjoy!
