🐥 AS THE RANCH TURNS…

Tonight’s episode: It Takes a Village… Apparently. 😂

For TWO YEARS, these two goofy geese have faithfully sat on nests off and on, patiently waiting for babies.

There’s just one tiny problem.

They are both girls.
There is NO GANDER. 🤣😂

Hope springs eternal, apparently.

Well, enter one little hen who actually DID manage to hatch herself a baby chick.

And suddenly…

THE GEESE ARE MOTHERS. 🤦‍♀️🤣

Or co-parents.
Or bodyguards.
Or extremely overbearing aunties.

Honestly, we’re not exactly sure what arrangement they’ve worked out. 😂

What I DO know is that these two now follow Momma Hen and her baby around like they personally participated in this entire process. They honk. They hiss. They stand guard. And heaven help anyone—including ME—who gets too close to their baby.

Meanwhile, I’m pretty sure poor Momma Hen is wondering how she ended up raising her only child with two enormous, loud, overly involved geese. 🤣😂

But that’s life around here.

Sometimes family looks a little different than you expected. ❤️🐥

And sometimes it includes one hen, one tiny chick and two completely delusional geese.

Stay tuned.

Because around here, I have absolutely NO idea what tomorrow’s episode of As the Ranch Turns will bring. 🤣😂🐓🪿🪿❤️

ROMANCING THE ORDINARY 🌸

Sometimes it doesn’t take much to brighten a day.

A beautiful bouquet. A favorite painting. A little corner of your home that simply makes you happy every time you walk past it.

There’s just something about these gorgeous dahlias—the soft colors, the old-fashioned feel, the simple jar of flowers—that reminds me how much beauty there is in the everyday things we surround ourselves with.

Maybe that’s really what romancing the ordinary is all about… noticing those little things that make an ordinary day feel just a bit more special. ❤️

Make the Ordinary Extraordinary.

🌻 Romancing the Ordinary

Sometimes the most beautiful things begin as something ordinary.

An old plate.
A pretty glass dish.
A forgotten little bowl.

Stack them together, add a little imagination—and suddenly you have a sunflower blooming in the garden. 🌻

Our sweet friend Debbie made this beautiful piece of repurposed yard art for me, and I absolutely love it!

If you’ve ever been to a Farmgirl workshop with Debbie, you probably already know her. 😂 She’s the one making new friends, showing everyone around and enthusiastically telling them about ALL the things happening at Farmgirl Pickings. We’ve officially decided she’s our Farmgirl Ambassador. ❤️

And somehow this little sunflower seems just right for her—bright, cheerful, creative and guaranteed to make you smile.

Thank you, Debbie. It has found the perfect spot among the other flowers, and every time I see it, I’ll think of you.

Romancing the Ordinary is really just this: seeing something ordinary and imagining what else it could become. 🌻

🌿 From the Farmgirl Kitchen

There’s something pretty wonderful about stepping outside the back door and snipping a handful of fresh herbs for dinner. 💚

And you don’t need a big garden to do it!

A pot by the back door, a planter tucked onto the patio, or even an old haystack planter hanging on a fence is plenty of room for a few favorite herbs.

Sage, thyme, rosemary, oregano… just a little snip can turn something as simple as roasted vegetables, grilled chicken, fresh tomatoes or a loaf of homemade bread into something special.

That’s one of my favorite things about cooking from home and garden. It doesn’t have to be complicated or fancy.

Grow a little something.
Snip what you need.
Bring it into the kitchen.
Make something delicious. 🌿

And somehow, knowing you grew even one little ingredient yourself makes dinner taste just a bit better. 💛

From the Farmgirl Kitchen — where making the ordinary extraordinary can start with a handful of herbs and a little patch of sunshine. 🌻

🌻 INTRODUCING THE FARMGIRL KID’S CRAFT CLUB! 🌻

Little Makers • Big Imaginations • Farmgirl Fun

We’ve decided the grown-ups shouldn’t get to have ALL the creative fun at Farmgirl! 😉💛

We’re so excited to introduce our brand-new Farmgirl Kid’s Craft Club — a fun, welcoming place for little makers to create something of their very own.

Throughout the year, we’ll be introducing simple seasonal projects designed especially for kids. Some will be offered during special Kid’s Craft Club afternoons, and whenever we can, we’ll keep projects available as drop-in crafts during regular store hours while supplies last.

Our first Kid’s Craft Club project will be a Make-It-Your-Own Stamped Tote Bag! Kids can choose from our IOD stamps to create their design, and add even more personality with markers or paint pens. We’ll heat-set their finished design so they can take home a tote they’ll be proud to use!

🌻 Our first Kid’s Craft Club afternoons:
Saturday, August 22 • 2:00 PM
Thursday, August 27 • 2:00 PM

We’ll provide the supplies, the helping hands and a little Farmgirl hospitality. You bring your favorite little maker! 💛

Because creativity isn’t just for grown-ups—and there’s something pretty special about hearing a child say…

“Look what I made!” 🌻

Sometimes the best workshops have the fewest pictures… 😂

Apparently I was too busy talking and laughing today to remember that I was also supposed to be taking pictures! 🤣

But I did manage to get a few photos of the finished creations from today’s Stamp Your Own Table workshop—and they were all so different and so pretty!

The real story of the day, though, wasn’t just what we made.

A group of ladies gathered around, started creating, visiting and laughing…and before long you would have thought they had all been friends for years. ❤️

One of our wonderful customers, Debbie is now our Farmgirl Ambassador!! 🤣 She gave the ladies the grand tour, told them about all the things we do, showed them past workshop projects and made sure they knew there was plenty more Farmgirl fun to come!

We love you Debbie!!!❤️ You always bring so much joy and fun!!

THIS is why I love our workshops.

Yes, we make pretty things.
Yes, you learn something new.
Yes, you go home with something you created yourself.

But somewhere between choosing colors, stamping flowers and passing supplies around, strangers start visiting…and laughing…and connecting.

And sometimes they leave feeling a little more like friends than strangers.

That’s Saturdays at Farmgirl. 🌻

Come for the project.
Stay for the laughter.
