Nature is absolutely amazing! ❤️ And because God is the Creator and Designer of all in nature, it all reminds me of how amazing He is. What an awesome gift to be able to witness!
Aster had babies yesterday morning that Creek thought were hers. So we separated Aster and her kids to a little cozy stall. She was shivering so I put a light in there and her and the kids took full advantage of it and laid down nearby.
Later in the afternoon Creek looked like she was getting serious about having her own kids so I put her in another little stall. She thought that was a terrible idea and wanted out, no doubt to go have them in the dirt. 😆 She finally settle down, then a couple hours later I heard her holler. Sure enough she was having them. I grabbed my clean towels and went in to wait. There was no wait. One baby was completely out by the time I knelt down. I wiped the slime away from its face and put it up by Creeks head so she could clean it and I took a picture. Less than one minute later there was another baby. I took another picture. FOUR minutes later, baby #1 was standing, #2 was right behind! Wow!!! It was wobbly, but a few minutes later it was walking around and looking for a teat! Just incredible!
We went to bed last night knowing that we had two more due, but neither looked like it was happening immediately. At 2:30 am I woke up from a dead sleep and wanted to go check on Frosty. I threw the covers back and jumped out of bed, got dressed and drove the buggy to the barn. Sure enough, three wet and wobbly babies, in the dirt of course. I grabbed my towels, moved them to the shavings and started drying them. Two girls and a boy, all healthy and strong, even if a little small. Frosty always has small babies. I set up a light and just watched them for a while. One had a piece of shavings on his back. He moved around a bit, then braced and did a whole body shake. How cool is that instinct??? I love it!
It’s such a blessing from God to be able to take care of these animals. And He gives me the ability and wisdom to do it. If you don’t know how to do something, ask Him for wisdom. He will answer! James 1:5
