Latest 11:30 radar shows an area of patchy freezing drizzle move northeast across eastern Panhandles with snow beginning to move into the western Panhandles from NM. Some light ice and snow accumulations expected through 3 PM. Please use caution if you are traveling.

10/10/2025

Winds will be on the breezy side across the Panhandles on Saturday, especially in the northwest. Overall, wind gusts should stay below 40 mph, but winds will be breezy all day, and may only come down a small amount overnight into Sunday morning. So continue make sure loose objects are secure, and while the fire danger is still low, limit any activities that could start a fire.

***UPDATE @ 11 PM - The tornado watch has been allowed to expire. The central and eastern TX Panhandle is now in a Severe Thunderstorm Watch until 4 AM. See more recent posts.***

Stay weather aware this afternoon into evening. Isolated to scattered thunderstorms will be possible across the central to eastern Panhandles. Some of the more robust supercells, if they form, will be capable of strong winds and hail upwards of baseball to softball in size. Tornadoes cannot be ruled out with any of these robust storms as well. Not everyone will see a storm but don't let your guard down.

STATEWIDE TORNADO DRILL
Wednesday, March 5th at 10:am

02/15/2025

Good Morning. A challenging day today. We have two rounds of snow. There is high uncertainty as to if we'll get much out of round 1, but there is the potential for 0.5"-1.5" of snow in the northeast Panhandles. Later tonight confidence is increasing in a band of snow that could produce 1-3", but the location of the band and just how far southeast it can stretch is uncertain. There's also a 20% chance that we could exceed 3" in that banded area. So impacts could be elevated to moderate in the banded area if snow amounts overperform.
