This wonderfully round little puffer fish by Leeanna Zig has sold, and honestly, we understand why. Just look at that face. 💙

Luckily, this was not our last Leeanna creation. More of her fun, whimsical coastal art is still available at ShopthePelican on Tybee Island.

A book that makes you laugh, remember, and reach for a tissue deserves a place on your reading list.

ShopthePelican on Tybee Island is proud to carry Leland Darryl Armstrong newest collection of short stories, BETWEEN THE TRACKS.

Through heartfelt storytelling, memorable characters, quiet humor, and deeply human moments, Darryl invites readers to see familiar parts of life from a new perspective. These are stories to read slowly, think about afterward, and share with someone you love.

“BETWEEN THE TRACKS intertwines stories from all aspects of life, filling the full measure of emotions throughout the book. Darryl’s ‘soul-touching’ writing sets up each story with a compelling idea, delivers the story straight from the heart, and closes with an emotional reward for the reader. And his attention to detail ensures readers feel a kinship with each character, human or otherwise. Enjoy every heartfelt line knowing you’ll nod, smile, or wipe a tear at the end. That’s what makes this book such a treasure. And now, I’ll go to Publix every Christmas hoping to see Jesus! - Terry Madewell, author of The Memory Bucket

“A fellow writer once told me that if you weren’t making your readers laugh or cry, you weren’t doing your job. Well, Armstrong’s BETWEEN THE TRACKS certainly did this. He can let us see the world through a child’s eyes or make us want to hug our dogs while we still can. His chapters about characters he has known remind me of flipping through a family album with an old friend, where every picture tells a story. So, take your time with this book, and let each story sink in as they are meant to.” – Jim Mize, author of A Creek Trickles Through It: A Collection of Fly-Fishing Humor, and The Jon Boat Years

Stop by ShopthePelican to pick up your copy of BETWEEN THE TRACKS. It is a meaningful choice for readers who love heartfelt short stories, Southern storytelling, unforgettable characters, and books that feel like time spent with an old friend.

We regret to inform everyone that The Irritable Pelican Gallery-Tybee has officially become an escape room.

The challenge is simple:

Enter the gallery.
Look at one piece of art.
Attempt to leave without finding six more things you need.

So far, no one has successfully escaped.

Some guests have been inside for hours. Others were last seen near the jewelry saying, “I’m just going to look one more time.”

There are no clues.
There is no key.
The only way out is through the gift shop.

Please alert your family before entering.

Every friend group has a bad influence.

We’d never point fingers…

But if your friends suddenly leave Tybee with handmade art, a few souvenirs, and stories they’ll be telling for years, we might know who started it.

Tag the “bad influence” in your friend group. You know exactly who they are.

Stop by the Irritable Pelican Artisan Gallery inside the Tybee Visitor Center and see what kind of trouble you can get into.

Bitsy has already discovered the smartest way to enjoy a hot Tybee day.

Our cool air conditioning will feel wonderful, the clean public restroom is right across the hall at Visit Tybee , and Bitsy will be ready to greet you.
