Yesterday's work at the Voyageur art center.

I started this project over an art weekend with and I'm finally really to test print this revolutionary seagull.

I think this piece is a good candidate for a multi-block print, so be on the lookout for that. I'm thinking a red for the Phrygian cap, a blue for the coat, and yellow for the eye and beak. We'll see how it goes!

And I will cut away the Uncarved fields before I print of course :)

I'm set up today at the Voyageur Art Gallery in Two Harbors. It's a wonderful space for quiet working, so I have four blocks in progress!

Today at the 20/20 hunger games, we have the effects of 4 inches of rain between last night and this morning. The easy up is, to put it mildly toast.

My thanks to and for all the help and support. I have a tent and tables and can at least sell for a while today.

For 20/20 survivor edition, we've come back to a forecast of 1-2 inches of rain today! It looks like we'll make up for the drought of June at long last. We cleared everything from the lent last night, so my product at least was dry to start. Step one: clear 5-10 gallons of rain off the tent. Step two: lay a floor. Step three: profit?

It took an hour and a half. But I'm ready for the day!

First new block in too long. This spring has been one crisis after the next with only short pauses. I carved this block months ago, and finally had a clean print shop to run it through last night. It was really fun to experiment with color.

I'm not quite done yet, but I'm making progress! This kind of carving is very putsy, but it's also very relaxing.

Long training day today. I came prepared. The first block I created was a city like this. They're a fun way to play with urban planning, architecture, and patterns.

Unexpected Work, Uncooperative Life

So, I’ve had some pretty high goals for myself around creating new blocks, getting into regional shows, and finding new places to sell my art. Life really hasn’t agreed with any of that this spring. Whether it’s been work, illness, or most recently a sewage backup in my basement, it’s been a bad month and a half for being creative.

I’m phenomenally grateful for how little damage I have. My art and supplies are stored high enough to be safe, and we were able to fight the flow long enough to get the city out. But cleanup is still taking time.

We’re going to hope this was the last shoe to drop, and try to get back on track. There will be new art posted, and new products in my etsy shop. May spring bring better times.

New ink new blocks! I've done a bunch of much smaller carving over the past month, and I'm looking forward to showing it all off!

I also have an Etsy shop! I'll be adding my prints to it over the next week, but it's up and running!
