Got fish? You could have, thanks to the free fishing weekend!

Free Fishing Weekend kicks off tomorrow, June 8, and we have some tips to make sure this weekend is great for anglers across Washington:

• Know where to go: some of the best free fishing opportunities are in recently stocked lakes throughout the state. Depending on the lake, you may find rainbow trout, bass, kokanee, perch, and more! Many lakes have shore access so you can fish without a boat. Check out the Free Fishing Weekend page on the WDFW website for information on over 600 lowland lake locations in the state https://wdfw.wa.gov/fishing/free.

• Even though you don't need a license for most species, other rules about seasons, size limits, daily limits, and area closures are still in effect. Some species still require a fishing license on Free Fishing Weekend: salmon, steelhead, sturgeon, halibut, and all shellfish. The WDFW website and free Fish Washington app are great resources to find the latest regulations.

• This weekend, Vehicle Access Passes are not required to park at WDFW lands, nor is a Discover Pass needed to park on WDFW, Department of Natural Resources, or Washington State Parks lands.

Free Fishing Weekend is a great opportunity to spend time outdoors with your friends and family, try a new activity, and learn a little bit about fishing in Washington. We encourage everyone to recreate safely, responsibly, and enjoy the sun!

Are there any exciting event for this Saturday in the Methow area? Yes! Check out this fantastic event for kids at the Fish Hatchery.

Come see us for Kids Fishing Day this Saturday June 8th from 10-2 at the Winthrop National Fish Hatchery! 🐟️

June is one of our favorite months because it's when we get to join other organizations to teach about and celebrate our waterways, recreation, conservation and of course, fish! After learning through hands-on activities and interactive displays, kids gather up all the patience they can muster and try to hook a trout! It's a great day of fun, learning, and maybe even catching dinner!

Don't miss out on this incredible theater production! There are only a few performances remaining, and you can attend by making a donation.

It's opening night for the Merc Readers' Theater production of "The Half-Life of Marie Curie"! It will be on stage through June 9th.

Based at a time when Curie was being lambasted by the press for an alleged affair with her late husband's protégé, this production focuses on the power of female friendship and explores a wide range of topics, including suffrage, motherhood, grief, carnal joy, and the damaging effects of sexism in science and society.

Show times are 7 p.m. for the Thursday, Friday, & Saturday shows and 2 p.m. for the Sunday show. Admission is by donation & there are no presales. Doors open 30 minutes prior to show time.
