A customer just purchased six books from Fr33minds and paid $104.80 for the books. The same books if bought directly from Amazon woud have cost him $255.92. In addition we added two items as free bonuses that otherwise would cost $10.00.

By ordering from us instead of Amazon he saved over $150.00 on his order. Many vendors on Amazon are cheaper if you contact them directly. Think about it—they have to pay Amazon very high commissions for items that sell along with all sorts of other fees. Go direct and you'll usually save money.

Are you looking for a great gift for the Holidays for a libertarian or someone interested in the ideas? You can’t go wrong with giving them the complete set of the Free to Choose series that Milton and Rose Friedman did on PBS some years ago.

All 10 episodes are here. Now you have to vigilant if you want it as Amazon also markets the abridged version and they don’t always make it clear you aren’t getting the entire series. It’s a little cheaper and some people rush to buy not realizing they are getting an edited down version.

This 12 disk set includes bonus material as well. Included as extra material is Tyranny of the Status Quo, I Remember Milton, PRC forum with Milton Friedman, and The Three Letter Word, Tax.

The price for the entire set, including shipping to any U.S. address is $49.95. We also go the extra mile in shipping. Each video set is put in another cardboard box to give it added protection and then inside a padded envelope for shipping. We will email you the shipping label so you have the tracking number.

These are great gifts or treat yourself. You won’t regret it.

𝐓𝐚𝐜𝐤𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐄𝐥𝐞𝐩𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐑𝐨𝐨𝐦

People often just assume they'll save money at Amazon, not true. Sometimes you pay much more. Another absurdity is the assumption that "free shipping" makes it cheaper to buy from them. But a $25 product with free shipping is a lot more than paying $15 and $4 shipping.

Here is a real life example of how to save money on libertarian books that we shipped out today.

The order came in The Encyclopedia of Libertarianism, Seven Principles of Good Government by Gary Johnson, and The System of Liberty by George H. Smith. The customer's cost via Fr33minds was $54.90 for the books and $6.50 for shipping. (The first title is massive and weighs a few pounds.) Their total price was $61.40.

Now buying the same bundle from Amazon runs into problems. First, if they want the Johnson book Amazon does't sell it in paperback so if you place an order from them for the paperback we are the ones who ultimately ship it to you and they will charge you more than we do for the book plus $3.99 shipping.

Your total cost for the titles alone via Amazon would be $160.08, plus the $3.99 on shipping the Johnson book and free shipping on the other two titles if you are paid to join Amazon Prime. Let's say you get it for free. Your total cost from Amazon would be $164.07 from Amazon with "free shipping" on two of the books or $61.40 from us. On that one order the savings by avoiding Amazon is $102.67.

Today's armored-up policemen are a far cry from the constables of early America. The unrest of the 1960s brought about the invention of the SWAT unit-which in turn led to the debut of military tactics in the ranks of police officers. Nixon's War on Drugs, Reagan's War on Poverty, Clinton's COPS program, the post-9/11 security state under Bush and Obama: by degrees, each of these innovations expanded and empowered police forces, always at the expense of civil liberties. And these are just four among a slew of reckless programs.

In Rise of the Warrior Cop, Balko shows how politicians' ill-considered policies and relentless declarations of war against vague enemies like crime, drugs, and terror have blurred the distinction between cop and soldier. His fascinating, frightening narrative shows how over a generation, a creeping battlefield mentality has isolated and alienated American police officers and put them on a collision course with the values of a free society. Pb, 400 pages. List price $17.99, Amazon price, $11.38, our price, $9.95.

Amazon is now deceiving customers into spending far more money on one set of Free to Choose DVDS than they normally would. Instead of getting new sets for $49.95 Amazon set the default purchase to used sets from Amazon for $79.99. That's a 60% increase in the actual price for a used set.

You can order the same set, in new condition, for just $49.95 from us.

In the last nine years alone, more than 100,000 people have lost their lives to drug-war violence in Mexico. 50 years ago, governments around the world made it illegal to produce, sell, and possess certain drugs. Five decades later, illegal drug use is at an all time high and $100 billion of government money around the globe is spent every year on drug-related criminal law enforcement and the so-called war on drugs.

Drug prohibition laws have put the drug market into the hands of organized criminals, and the Global Commission on Drug Policy (GCDP) are seeking to alter opinion towards prohibition-focused drug laws and criminalization, bringing to light potential new policies and attitudes which will reduce organized crime, drug-related violence, and the supply and demand of illicit drugs. Harm reduction is at the forefront of their agenda and this collection of essays outlines key facts, debates, and perspectives on the war on drugs, and how we can end it.

Contributors include Ernesto Zedillo (former president of Mexico), Ruth Dreifuss (former president of Switzerland), Henrique Fernando Cardoso (former president of Brazil), Olusegun Obasanjo (former president of Nigeria), Cesar Gaviria (former president of Colombia), Pavel Bem (former mayor of Prague), Michel Kazatchkine (UNSG’s Special Envoy on HIV/AIDS in Eastern Europe and Central Asia), Anand Grover (former UN Special Rapporteur on the right to health), Carl Hart (Professor, Columbia University), and George Soros (philanthropist). Paperback, 244 pages. List price $18.95; Amazon price, $14.74; our price, $7.95.

THE CULTURE OF FEAR

In the age of Trump, our society is defined by fear. Indeed, three out of four Americans say they feel more fearful today than they did only a couple decades ago. But are we living in exceptionally perilous times? In his bestselling book The Culture of Fear, sociologist Barry Glassner demonstrates that it is our perception of danger that has increased, not the actual level of risk. Glassner exposes the people and organizations that manipulate our perceptions and profit from our fears: politicians who win elections by heightening concerns about crime and drug use even as rates for both are declining; advocacy groups that raise money by exaggerating the prevalence of particular diseases; TV shows that create a new scare every week to garner ratings. Glassner spells out the prices we pay for social panics: the huge sums of money that go to waste on unnecessary programs and products as well as time and energy spent worrying about our fears.

All the while, we are distracted from the true threats, from climate change to worsening inequality. In this updated edition of a modern classic, Glassner examines the current panics over vaccination and "political correctness" and reveals why Donald Trump's fearmongering is so dangerously effective.
