Hello honey lovers. Would like to take a moment to inform you that we are forced to increase our prices of honey this year. We have done our best to hold the line and keep our prices steady now for the last 6 yrs with no changes. Currently, where everything is costing us so much more to continue to raise bees and market their wonderful honey, we have implemented a price increase starting now for the '22 honey flow season. In comparison, we are still below the suggested going rate for natural honey.
The prices are now for a 8 oz jar=$8.00, 16 oz jar=$11.00, 32 oz jar=$16.00 and square of comb (limited supply when available) $20.00. Any jars of honey with a strip of honeycomb is still additional $3.00 added to the prices above. These are also in limited supply.
We would like to take this time to express our appreciation for your loyalty to Walker Prairie Honey. We have endured serious bee losses over the last few years but continue to start over again every spring. (Dedication or stupidity, you be the judge.)
Thank you very much for your understanding and patronage.
BEE WELL!

Picked up the last of our bees today and are all set up in their hives for the season. Total of 24. 22 in the apiary and 2 here at home. This doubles what we've had in the past. A lot of work to do this expansion but hopefully worth it.

After the devastating loss of all our bees earlier this year, we have decided to dive back into beekeeping. I'm sure this will make plenty of you happy. If all goes well, honey flow will happen starting in July through Labor day. Hoping for a good honey season!

Beautiful day to check on all of our hives. Extremely heart broken to discover they are all like this. Not one live bee! Total loss!😭. Bees were alive near the end of February, but that harsh, long subzero cold snap we had in early March, took their lives. (We did insulate them but it wasn't enough against old man winter.)
So....we want your input. Do we start all over or shut the business down? We know a lot of you enjoy our honey and don't want to be without it. If we do reinvest in purchasing bees, no doubt we will take a hit. But we will try to maintain our current prices, no promises, but will try. Awaiting your input. Thank you!

Been making candy feeder boards for the bees lately. Made with amino acids, pollen powder & other healthy ingredients along with sugar and water. These get placed on the hives, candy side facing bees. The heat they generate in the hive softens up the candy that they consume to get through the winter.
