WEST MAIN STREET REOPENED TO THROUGH TRAFFIC
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Friday, April 19, 2024. At six o’clock this morning, City of Troy Street Division employees began removing the fencing and barricades that blocked the section of West Main Street from Cherry to Plum Street in downtown Troy. Ending the 295-day detour was approved by the Miami County Building Official, who confirmed late Thursday afternoon with Troy City Director Patrick Titterington that the stabilization work to the IOOF (Tavern) Building had been completed and the Adjudication Order would be lifted.

β€œOur first priority was to get the road opened as quickly as possible. So when the opportunity presented itself yesterday, we immediately scheduled staff to remove the barricades before today’s morning commuter traffic. We are very appreciative of everyone’s efforts on the stabilization project, who worked impressively to meet a difficult deadline,” Titterington stated. β€œWe look forward to seeing that building transitioning into a repurposed retail, office and/or residential space that contributes to the vibrancy of our great downtown,” he continued.

Mayor Robin Oda agreed, saying β€œIt’s been a long 9 1/2 months and we are happy that the barricades are gone. Our residents, businesses and visitors have awaited this day for far too long but now we can restore some normalcy in our community.”

The parking lanes will continue to be blocked off, as some non-stabilization work continues. Next week, driving lane and parking stall striping will be painted by the West Main Street Corridor Phase I contractor. Parking on the south side of West Main Street between Cherry and Plum Streets will be restricted until that work is completed. It should be noted that the south side of the two blocks between Plum Street and the Square will become parallel parking, at least temporarily, due to the realignment of West Main Street from Adams Street to the Square. After a very productive public meeting regarding the future downtown streetscape and safety improvements, the City will be reanalyzing the traffic counts, traffic flow, and parking layouts that were designed and approved by the Ohio Department of Transportation.

Question - What advice would you give to the next generation of female leaders?

Follow your curiosity and interests. You don’t have to follow a traditional career path, every women’s path to success is different. Believe in yourself. If you think you can or think you can’t both will be right. Find your confident voice and spend time to find the right partners, teammates and community that will support you. When things get hard (which they will) your WHY needs to be strong enough to keep you going. You can’t do it all nor should you, delegate tasks to others who are simply better at them and focus on your strengths. Lastly, in my business, collaborating with other women owned business is key to representing community over competition. There is room for us all 🀍
