Earlier this year, we received a package from a small business who shares our love for the I/DD community. Unsure how we could share this cool kit, we tucked it away & decided to come back to it later.

Fast forward several months, and I was having a conversation with my aunt who cares for her young grandson (3 yo) who has autism. His beautiful curly hair was getting a tad out of control, but the sound of standard clippers terrified him and the thought of free-cutting his strands invoked images of a terrible haircut (or worse!).

I remembered this package and asked her to see if this worked. The idea is simple - same guards but a different (and silent) cutting mechanism.

A few days later, she called me and shared through her tears that it worked, and EVERYONE enjoyed her grandson’s first haircut.

Thank you for making an “ordinary” haircut so special. While struggles are inevitable, this will no longer be one of them for our family!

I’m never going to stop promoting the vast abilities of people like Mallory Snellen and those who The Arc of High Point supports. Beth Lowry Mills and I enjoyed our virtual interview with WXII 12 NEWS this morning chatting about our favorite non-profit and the exciting event happening this weekend.

Please make plans to come enjoy the day with us! If you’d like to volunteer your time, please message me directly and I’ll send you a link to select the area you’d like to serve in as well as the time. Each shift is only a few hours - we spend more time than that scrolling through social media and I promise you’ll feel MUCH BETTER about how you spent your time after this event!

If you’re not interested in volunteering, no worries! We would love to have you come enjoy the days’ festivities with us, enjoy some food and drinks (Kona Ice, Joy Bar Coffee, and Brown Truck Brewery) and fun events for the kids (Autism Awareness truck, SWAT team, police & fire equipment)!

The Over the Edge event and ground party is taking place Saturday, March 16 in Greensboro.
