Good evening friends and fans. Geronimo here. I will be working tomorrow after all.

I just couldn’t let the last day of Mockingbird Books pass without being there. So I will be in all day 10-5. I hope to see some of you there.

Good afternoon friends and fans. We're in the home stretch of transitioning the store to the new owners. Mark and I will be stepping back this week to allow Chris to work the store. She will be in Tuesday through Thursday this week.

Grace will be in on Friday. As of April 1, 2023 store operations will transfer to Caspian Books. During the first week of April, We will be signing a final agreement and once funds have transferred, the store will officially change hands.

As many of you have seen, Mark and I have de personalized the store over the month. We want to make room for Chris to add her own spin on the space. No doubt signage will change soon, and I know Mark and I are eager to see the new logo.

We'd like to thank everyone for their support of the store and it's transition. We want to encourage fans to come in this week and introduce yourself to Chris. I'm sure she'd like to meet the community the store serves as she gears up for this massive life change.

As for Mark and I, we'll be around checking in on my folks and visiting the store as customers. The Mockingbird Books page will remain up for a week or so after the official transition. I will then mothball it along with the Sebastopol and Guerneville pages.

I can't believe its' been 11 years and 3 stores Mark and I have had on this part of our journey. It reminds me of a Billy Joel song lyric that I think is appropriate to sign off with:

"So many places in and out of my life, some will last some will just be now and then."

"Life is a series of hellos and goodbyes, well I'm afraid it's time for goodbye again."

Good morning friends and fans. An update on the store's impending sale. This will be Mark's final week working the store.

The new owner, Chris, will be in the last week of March. We are planning for an April 1st transition. The final sale will likely take place the first week of April.

We all decided it would be a cleaner transition if we went ahead and gave the reigns over to Chris, before the final sale is complete. We trust her and her husband completely and we felt giving her the chance for a "soft opening" would be the best option for both her and the store.

She is the absolute right fit to take over. She's a Tracy local, a mom with little ones and a book enthusiast just like Mark and I. She's fit right in and will bring her own brand of bookselling to the community.

For our long time supporters, Mark and I really hope you give Chris the same love and loyalty you've given us. You've been an integral part of making Mockingbird Books successful. We hope you'll help Chris continue that success.

I will be in the store for a bit on Friday and Saturday. Mark will be around this week, if any of you are interested in saying hey. Mom and Dad are remaining here in Tracy, so we'll be here quite a bit. We will be patronizing Chris' store (the new name is AWESOME), when we're in town, so it's not a goodbye.

Merely a transition.

Good morning friends and fans!

As of 11am 2/23/23 Mark and I have signed a letter of intent to sell the store. The new owners will keep it a bookstore and will be giving it a new name. The transition to new ownership will take about a month.

More details will follow in the coming days and weeks. We intend to introduce the new owner and will slowly begin the process of winding down our involvement. As she begins to ramp up her presence, we ask all of our followers to consider following the page she will create for her store.

Mark and I are grateful for all the support we’ve had from the book loving community in West County. the transition is a bittersweet one for us. We’re happy that the store will live on, but we’re sad to turn the page on 10 years of book selling.

Everything. Everywhere. Ends.

But where there’s an end, there’s usually a beginning. A new beginning for the store and it’s new owner. Along with a new start for Mark and I as we begin our next adventure in Sonoma County.

Who could be sad about that?
