James (Jamie) Dubberly, hailing from Brunswick, GA, has established a reputation as one of the top trombonists, educators, and arrangers in northern California. He currently serves on the faculties of University of the Pacific’s Conservatory of Music, Delta College, and California State University- Stanislaus as lecturer. As a trombonist , he has recorded, and/or performed with a wide range of artists, including Sheila E, Foreigner, Spanish Harlem Orchestra, Tony Succar, Pacific Mambo Orchestra, Luis Enrique, Hartford Symphony Orchestra, Emerson String Quartet, Bobby Caldwell, Chris Potter, The Temptations, La India, Brooklyn Philharmonic Orchestra, Johnny Mathis, Jon Faddis, Andy Montanéz, Michael Stuart, Greg Tardy, Fred Wesley, Lyrics Born, Wayne Wallace, Herman Olivera, Steve Davis, Frankie Vazquez, and Idina Menzel, among many others, and has worked with several touring orchestras for Broadway productions ( U.S. and International). He has performed at the Monterey Jazz Festival, Pl***oy Jazz Festival, Tempo Latino ( France), San Jose Jazz Festival, Summerstage Festival ( Central Park, NYC), Stern Grove Festival ( SF) , Brubeck Festival, and in premier venues such as Yoshi’s, SF Jazz Center, and the Blue Note (Napa). In 2014, Jamie earned a Grammy award for his participation in the Pacific Mambo Orchestra debut album ( “best tropical latin album” in 56th annual Grammy awards), and continues to perform with that group as well as the Afro-Cuban Jazz Cartel, Somos el Son, Candela, Cabanijazz Project, Opera Modesto, Mazacote, Realistic Orchestra, and a host of other groups in northern California. He also leads his own highly acclaimed latin jazz groups “Orquesta Dharma”, and is active as a composer and arranger, published by 3-2 Music Publishing, and others.
