I met Greg almost 8 years ago when I worked at another bicycle shop. We were closed at the time and I was inside working on my personal bike. A knock at the door caught my attention and there he was with who I thought was his daughter, maybe 10 years old. Kid in one hand, kids-bike in the other and a clear flat tire. When I got to the door he apologized for the bother but everyone else was closed and his niece really wanted to learn to ride. Of course I let them in and changed the flat. They left happy and I didn’t think much more of it.

But Greg did. That small act of kindness stuck with him. Since then, he’s followed me faithfully to every shop I’ve worked at—and finally to The DropOut - driving past six other shops just to support us.

Last week, we had the honor of building his dream bike: a Alpe d’Huez Disc in Gloss Carbon, dressed in Shimano Ultegra Di2, a Vision/FSA build kit, and the unmistakable touches of that Chris King Buzz 🐝

Plain black? Hardly. This bike is anything but plain—and it rides like an absolute dream.

Spent the last four days gluing up a set of these track tubulars for a junior track champ, and I 𝒘𝒊𝒔𝒉 this centerlock tech existed when I was racing on the boards. The centerlock cogs make gear swaps way faster with fewer tools, but they still offer a threaded option for the retro purists—or quick flips. Available in 3/8” or metric.

Christmas in January? Why not?! 🎄🎁

Full gruppo swap for our boy —and what a swap it is! Upgrading from Shimano 105 to the lightest electronic group on the market, the fully redesigned RED AXS from . Absolute showstopper!

We’re loving the updates SRAM made, especially finally addressing that pad-lipping issue no one talks about 🤫. The new lever profile? Chef’s kiss. The brakes? Oh, they’re BRAKING.

And why stick with OEM when you can flex with the insane Ti Pulley Wheels?! “Oooof” doesn’t even begin to cover it.
