We are happy to hear and share that a new store owned by local businesspeople has opened in LFK.
Yes, the store is a franchise BnMF store and I know that many of you have heard about the scandal and the theft of a valuable, large, sealed Star Wars LEGO collection, but let me set the record straight.
I have nothing to do with the store or corporation, but I have built and collected LEGO my entire life, I own a store, and I also understand how contract law works. My only stake at this point is in supporting a local business that deserves a chance to succeed on its own without the ignorance and stupidity of 'net warriors spreading bad information about something this store and really their Franchisor was not responsible for.
ANOTHER franchisee of the Bricks & Minifigures corporation took on consignment a large and ultimately valuable collection of Star Wars LEGOS. That franchisee ran their business poorly financially and socially and failed to meet their contract with the franchisor. They blamed the corporation for a lack of support but there is no reason to believe that is true outside of their claim.
When the franchisor sold the franchise to a new franchisee the LEGO collection the original owners were responsible for, period, didn't get back to the owner, and some amount of money possibly too.
Thanks to the ignorance and stupidity of a handful of "influencers" beginning with an otherwise well-intentioned Reckless Ben, the original franchisees were able to distort the basic facts of contracts and responsibility and convince a large number of people that they were a sympathetic victim instead of the irresponsible actors they were.
Point is, if you like LEGO then there is not one reason related to this scandal that should keep you from shopping in this store.
Here is a link to my full analysis of the situation from back in June when it all broke wide in case you're interested in the details.
