This month is National Foster Care Month, and it’s a cause that is deeply personal to us at Community Woodworking Co. Because of your support, we were able to make a donation to the Kansas Children's Discovery Center to help provide free memberships for foster families.

Fostering and adoption have personally shaped our family, and we are committed to continuing to support foster families and biological family reunification in meaningful ways. As part of our business model, a percentage of our yearly earnings goes back toward supporting foster care initiatives and organizations that care for vulnerable children and families in our community.

True to our name, the work we do is about more than building beautiful wood pieces — it’s about giving back into the community we’re proud to serve and live in.

We recently were commissioned to work with Kansas Historical Society on a unique project. We handcrafted repatriation boxes to return ancestors and cultural items to various Tribal Nations through the Federal Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act. We are happy to be able to support this important work in reuniting ancestors and objects with their Tribes.

Locally grown and milled cedar was requested without any metal or finish to keep them as natural as possible. Locking miter joints with an integrated sliding lid ensured a strong but beautiful box to honor the ancestors and objects that will be housed within.

This home office was recently wrapped up and we couldn’t be more pleased with it! Floor to ceiling storage, base cabinetry, countertop, floating shelves, media cabinet, and accent slat wall, all out of white oak. Lots of little details with this one that we had fun being creative and finding solutions alongside the client.
