Do you prefer to buy a costume or make it yourself? I think my favorite Halloween costume was one I made. I took a plain black t-shirt and cut yellow duct tape into thin strips to make it look like a parking lot. Then I hot glued a few matchbox cars to it.

Thursday’s Journal Prompts:
What is your all-time favorite Halloween costume you wore?
Journal about a memory you have from that Halloween.

If you have little kids at home, find out how an old Halloween costume inspired my daughter to want to help out with chores: https://www.remindandinspire.com/blog/chores

Do you like to make a big deal about your birthday or quietly let it pass? I think I fall somewhere in the middle.

Fun fact about me, my husband and I share the same birthday. He’s a few years older than me, but the month and day are the same. It’s been fun celebrating with him for the past 15+ years.

Thursday’s Journal Prompts:
What’s your favorite memory from a birthday of yours?
Has the way you’ve celebrated changed over the years?
Do you have anything you want to accomplish by your next birthday?

If you have kids and celebrate half birthdays, check out this low-key way to celebrate: https://www.remindandinspire.com/blog/dinnertradition

You’ve likely had your fair share of canceled plans this year!

While I miss many of the planned events I’ve had this year, there is a hidden gem to all my social distancing-I have a lot more free time on my weekends.

I’ve been filling my Sundays with all my favorite things-staying longer in pj’s, baking, and taking walks in the park.

Use this Thursday’s journal prompt to dive deeper into what you love:

Lazy Weekend Vibes-
What’s your favorite way to spend a Sunday with no plans?
Focus not only on what you love doing but also on what you like to surround yourself with.
Take it a step further and pick a Sunday out of each month to enjoy what you described!

Nights are starting to get colder around here and next week is officially Fall-A.K.A my favorite season.

Journal about a favorite Fall moment from your childhood.
Maybe it’s a school class party or a trip to an apple orchard. Journal about all the details you remember about it. Pay particular attention to the kind of mood Fall puts you in.

Journal about a Fall activity you’ve been looking forward to doing this year. Is it something you like to do in solitude, or is there someone special you plan to do it with?

This year is the perfect time to come up with a hometown Fall tradition—some ideas to get you started.

A cinnamon donut tasting-Get together with your family or a close friend and get cinnamon donuts from different bakeries around town. Then judge who you think has the best cinnamon donut. Do you prefer apple fritters over cinnamon donuts? Do a local roundup of apple fritters instead. My family recently did a milkshake roundup that was a lot of fun. You can hear more about it here: https://www.remindandinspire.com/podcast/milkshakes

Who said picnics were just for summer. For that matter, who said they have to be for lunch. Find out why picnic breakfasts might just become your new favorite Fall tradition https://www.remindandinspire.com/blog/picnicbreakfast.

Are you lucky enough to have one friend you can always count on? Someone you can’t wait to share good news with? Someone that can listen and encourage you.

This week’s journal prompt is all about finding joy in friendship.

What’s your favorite thing to do with friends? For me, it’s meeting up at a coffee shop and catching up. I always leave happier and less stressed afterward.

Journal about the last time you got together with a friend.

What did you talk about?

How did you feel afterward?

Are you interested in finding more joy in your friendship? Consider starting a shared journal with them. Find out how to create one and get some free journal prompts to get you started. https://www.remindandinspire.com/blog/friendship-shared-journal

When you think back on your childhood, where does your mind go? Do you remember someone special you were with, the occasion you celebrated? Is there something you feel when you think back on that time?

Thursday’s Journal Prompt:
What’s your favorite childhood memory?
Journal about all the details you remember.
Dig a little deeper and write about how you feel and how you think you felt at the time.
Is it a memory that sparks joy?
Is there any way to recreate it now?
If you were with someone you love and can talk with, call them up and ask them what they remember.

Have you ever noticed that it’s easier to speak encouraging words to a friend than yourself? I think we tend to be a lot harder on ourselves than we are with others.

Journal about a time you’ve felt discouraged about something. But instead of journaling about it as if you encountered the problem, write about it as if it was a close friend going through a difficult time in their life.

Did your view of the problem change with the change of perspective?

Think of something that you are most proud of. It might be something that took a lot of your time and effort. Maybe it was starting over after failing at something. It could be trying something new, even though you were scared.

For me, it was starting my business last year. There were so many steps along the way that I was afraid to take, but I knew if I pushed past that fear and found success, it would make it all worth it in the end.

I’m still learning and trying new things. But the biggest lesson I’ve learned from starting my business is how I measure success. In the past, I saw success as the end result of hard work. I’ve since discovered success can be found in the journey, by not giving up when things don’t go according to plan. My success comes from trying something new every time I fail at something.

Thursday’s Journal Prompt:
What are you most proud of? Describe how you accomplished it. Were there traits you already had that led to your success? Did you develop new insights about yourself? Did it come easy for you? Describe any obstacles you encountered?

Do you ever wish you could go back to the carefree summers of your childhood? You know, before the weight of responsibilities crept into your adult life. I can’t build you a time machine, but I can give you the opportunity to reflect on it. Perhaps you’ll remember something you enjoyed that can be incorporated into your life now.

If you are looking for a fun activity to do with family or friends this summer, check out my latest podcast. It involves two of my favorite things-family and milkshakes! https://www.remindandinspire.com/podcast/milkshakes

This Week’s Journal Prompt:
Describe your favorite summer memory growing up?
Try to remember details of that moment-what the weather was like, who you were with, what you had just finished doing, etc.
Is there some part of that memory that you can work into your life now?

I don’t know about you, but I could sure use a vacation. I don’t see that happening anytime soon, but that doesn’t mean I can’t reminisce about the last vacation I took. Today’s journal prompt is all about vacations.

Describe your best memory from a vacation you have taken.

What is the funniest thing that ever happened on vacation?

If you could only ever go to the same place for every vacation you take for the rest of your life, where would that be? Some thoughts to get you thinking:
Would it have a beach?
Would it have boutique shopping?
Would it have golf?
Fancy or Casual?
