Do you know what you're actually paying in hidden markup fees on the app when you order with a big name grocery delivery service?
This was an order done with a big name grocery delivery service just last month. The picture on the right is the app receipt, which was sent to the customer after the order was delivered. This digital receipt reflects the prices on the app for the items she ordered. The total, before she tipped, was $817.52. The picture on the left shows the register receipt from the grocery store for the items she ordered. That total was $630.02. This is a difference of $187.52 (80% of this markup went directly to the big name delivery service, not the shopper), which works out to be a 29.8% markup on the grocery stores prices. The customer also tipped $80 on top, which means she paid $267.52 for someone to shop her groceries.
The big name delivery services may not be charging you a shopping & delivery fee, but they are charging you a membership fee and a 30% markup on store items by hiding them in the price of the items in the app that you put in your cart.
When you use BMH Delivery Service (me!), you always get store prices, BOGOs, sales, discounts, etc. No markup on store prices!! You get the actual store receipt to prove that you paid store prices. You don't pay a membership fee. My shopping and delivery fee is only $10, not the 30% markup that the big name delivery services are charging. Plus, when you choose your gratuity amount, you're saving more money because your tipping on the actual store receipt and not an inflated app receipt.
When you shop with me, you are supporting a local business owner, and not a large corporate machine. You are supporting someone that puts her money back into the local economy because I also shop local.
It's a win-win for all of us! I save you money, you support local...and you have a dedicated personal shopper that shops for you like I shop for my own family. š
