The body of a coffee is mainly affected by brewing method, but can also be attributed to roast level and processing method. Words used to describe the “body” of a coffee might be heavy, full, light, watery, thin, thick, syrupy, or soft.

We like to think of it in terms of milk. It is all milk, but skim milk and whole milk feel different in your mouth, and that affects the flavor.

Next time you're drinking your daily cup, try to notice the feeling or weight of the liquid when you drink it. If you notice a coffee feeling "heavier" or "lighter" than another, that's body!

Are you still drinking hot coffee in the mornings, or have you made the switch to iced for the summer? I tend to always have a hot coffee in the mornings no matter what. Morning = cozy even in 90 degree weather 😂

However you brew, we have the beans & tools to help you make the best cup possible, right inside your own living room. Stop by and see us Tuesday-Friday from 9AM-3PM in Downtown Toccoa 💕

Starting on Saturday, May 30, we will be transitioning to our Summer Hours at the Roastery downtown! We will be open Tuesday-Friday from 9AM-3PM at our 25 Doyle Street location. Remember, you can ALWAYS shop our coffee online, and we will ship it right to your door or we can coordinate a local pick up time.

Because we are opening our new coffee shop on June 1 (!!!), we have decided to take some time in the summer to get that space up & running smoothly. Come see us at Front Door Coffee inside the front lobby of Stephens County Hospital Monday-Friday from 6:30AM-2PM!

We can’t wait to serve you at both of our locations soon 💕

Did you know that the altitude at which a coffee plant grows can impact how coffee tastes? Arabica coffee is grown at altitudes that range from 2000-6000 feet above sea level.

Plants in general take longer to grow at higher altitudes due to several factors, such as cooler temperatures and reduced air pressure. What that means for coffee is a broader spectrum of flavors! Since the coffee bean itself takes longer to mature, it leads to higher chemical acidity levels in your coffee that produce a wider range of fruity, floral, and sweet flavors not found in coffees grown at lower altitudes.

Species like Robusta are easier to grow and even thrive in lower altitudes, but coffees grown at lower altitudes often have more bitter and woody notes that many coffee drinkers find unpleasant. This isn’t to say that all Robusta coffee is bad, but it has a higher chance of taking away from your coffee experience than adding to it.

Next time you're sipping your morning coffee, remember that flavor starts long before the roast. Elevation, climate, processing, variety, and many more processes help every cup tell the story of where it was grown.
