Well, it's been a while since I've made a post here… Still working on guitars and such so if you have any projects that need work over the winter, please feel free to contact me.

Over the last several months I've worked on a multitude of projects ranging from custom Guitar projects to simple string changes… Here's a few pictures of some of the projects... including a complete rehab of an old Electra, a neck reset via shims on a Taylor mini, saddle trim-downs, an acoustic pickup replacement and other fun projects 🤪

Happy New Year's Eve everyone… Just wanted to post a few few pictures of some Guitar projects I have worked on the last month or so…

So I sold two of my Studio guitars… to two great friends I've been gigging with lately, Mike and Joe… Joe picked out a beautiful Sunburst telecaster with Seymour Duncan pickups and Mike picked out a sleek white telecaster with all gold hardware… A few days after they purchased them, they played them both at our gig and surprised the heck out of me… Lol Thx guys! On top of a few acoustic guitar set ups, I also acquired two new bodies and necks for future projects… Both telecasters… One is a beautiful maple flame body with roasted tiger maple neck and the other a Sunburst telecaster but cut out for humbucker pickups and no pickguard… Both should be interesting projects… If you are interested in either, please contact me.

Again, if you have any Guitar needs come 2025 please feel free to get in touch... 😎

Some guitar work accomplished over the last few weeks… A couple of EVH guitars requiring new brass trem blocks and complete set ups, as well as some bass repairs and such (new tuners)… as well as a quick clean-up/set up on a white modified Strat with a Floyd.

Got some guitar needs?, Just let me know… I'm sure I can squeeze you in 😎

So, its been a while since I posted, been real busy with a large home project (gutted kitchen, family room, 1/2 bath and dining room... ug)... and finally nearing the end of the finish work (bath/hallway next)

So I haven't been able to take a lot of guitar work the last 3-4 months but recently begun working on some friends guitars that need some mods and/or some TLC. One friend dropped of 2 new EVH guitars (a Frankenstein and. Wolfgang) and both will soon be getting torn apart for new brass FR blocks (he has it in all his guitars, swears by them!) as well as a complete setup with strings.

My other friend who collects these unique guitars that were made up in VT back in the day brought (another) TIME guitar over the house that required some TLC (mainly fret recrowning, a cleaning and a new toggle switch, as well as a complete setup). I never worked so hard trying to recrown such flat frets. The good thing to know... this guitar has been played, and will be played many more years! Joe can chime in here if he wants and talk more about the details of this GS-7 (ie its unique hand-wound pickups as well as double phase and coil-tap switches). What a cool guitar to have worked on!

So, I'm slowly ramping up my shop again, so if interested in getting some guitar work done, please inquire and I can let you know the leads times and such... I currently have 3 in the shop so probably looking at a few weeks out currently... Thanks folks!

On the bench the last few weeks… Put together a EVH Frankenstein-like Guitar for a customer… Customer purchased a cheap Frankenstein, and I only used the painted body, fitted a new Kramer-like neck to it, even laser etched the logo in the headstock for the customer… Installed a new Gotoh 1996T Floyd rose tremolo, new strings and then a major action adjustment and played great! Then got to work on a 1999 fender, jazz bass… Replaced pickups with new Seymour Duncan, quarter pounders, hand-polished the tarnished tuners, cleaned and oiled the fretless neck and adjusted action after installing new strings… What a sweet playing fretless! Then worked on a brand new Sunburst Charvel guitar, replacing bridge pick up with a new DiMarzio super distortion, new strings installed then adjusted Floyd rose/action… and played pretty darn incredible.

I will be taking the next month or so off for some major Home renovations but if you have any emergencies, please let me know, and I'll see if I can squeeze you in… Thanks as always!

Lots of contemplation and interesting work fixing this "Time"-less guitar, so figured I'd document it a little better with some pictures

Firstly, this is a unique Guitar that was made up in Vermont back in the 80s by a company called TIME guitars. A good friend of mine owns quite a few, but this one definitely needed some TLC. Biggest problem was the tremolo anchors had been pulled through the guitars wooden body, cracking the anchor block in half literally… This was band-aided by someone a while back, but was really not done properly hence why it didn't last too long. Only option was to route out the existing anchor-holding wood on the body of the guitar and replaced with a new piece of hard Maple… The following text/pictures describe the process:

1. Removed trem anchor Band-Aid, an interesting brass straps someone made held in with a couple of screw
2. Recognized that this tremolo block is shot, neck break repair looked OK so left as is
3. Electronics was… Let's just say it was horrible… Lol Time to redo ALL
4. Decided it was best to just router out the entire bad piece of wood that holds the trem anchors… 3-D printed a unique router template and went at it out on my deck, and annoyed my neighbors for about 10 minutes
5. New hard Maple block was cut to size and made to lock into both sides of the guitar, where it will never be able to pull out again
6. Epoxied in with the best epoxy out there along with micro balloons, to fill any gaps/etc.
7. Was real lucky to find matching nail gel on Amazon... painted the top of the new block and UV-cured (was just going to be painted black)
8. Worked on the neck a bit, fixing a few flat frets by re-crowning as well as sanding the entire fretboard to get the inlays and fretboard level… then applied some lemon oil.
9. Installed new potentiometers/electronics as well as a new bridge pick up. Wired like a LP with dual coil tap switches
10. Tore apart/reassembled existing Floyd rose trem as all parts were sticky and rusted. Good thing was the trem pivot edges were still in great shape.
11. Reassembled completed pickguard onto Guitar, and then got to string it up and set action/intonation
12. Customer then came over to test drive and seems to love it… Like his other TIME guitars! 😎

On the bench the last few weeks...
Cheap replica EVH Frankenstein... salvaging just the body/pickguard, new Kramer-like neck, super distortion bridge pickup, Gotoh 1996T floyd rose trem, and a real good setup! Also assembled a customers parts guitar (all from Reverb), Genuine Fender Strat body, genuine Fender start neck w/ tuners (painted black interestingly, required a little fret work), installed neck, customer assembled most of the pickguard (interesting double-line routered) and installed/adjusted trem, looked and played real nice! And finally a cool "TIME" Flying V guitar (made in VT back in mid-late 80's?). Customer owns many. Its been played for sure... but still has a lot of life... only major issue was trem anchors eventually pulled thru the body's wood block, aka Anchor Blowout ;) (probably when the neck broke upon being dropped/etc... neck was reglued but looks ok). So the best more permanent solution was to router out the entire wood block and replace with a new rock-hard maple trem anchor block... and this I designed to lock into the sides of the guitar (like Lincoln blocks... as someone said.. lol). Very interesting and fun job :). Along with new anchor studs, a new bridge pickup, new electronics and a good setup, this will sing again!

On the bench the first few week in 2024:
Fixed more binding issues on another acoustic using this cool stuff... made for cars/painted surfaces actually... used to wick under area where the lacquer has lifted slightly and hardens clear as ice; Please be sure to use a humidifier of some sort in your guitar/case especially during these dry periods... Also built a bunch of cool 3D laser-cut clocks I've been making and selling online... people send me a special 45 of theirs, I build a clock musical around it; Installed a new super distortion pickup in a friend's Ibanez guitar I just modded with a new neck & Floyd Rose, Then worked on adjusting the action on a friends acoustic... I have my mini-lathe permanently set up just to accurately trim down the bottom side of the saddles... also slightly filed top nut to spec, then lemon-oiled the neck, restrung and played beautiful (not by me, the owner. haha); And even worked on a buddy's Bose mixer.. power switch was intermittent (can't have that @ gigs) so replaced... had the darn thing in tiny pieces and luckily I had no extra parts once reassembled... lol. If you have any guitar or electronics projects needing assistance, feel free to drop me a message.

On the bench the last few busy weeks before the holidays… An older Charvel requiring some TLC… New Floyd Rose locking screws, two new laser cut back plates, as well as some fret and fretboard refinishing, some strings, and a good action set up…

And another friends Ibanez 770 requiring a new neck… Luckily found an all Maple one he likes, but took a little to get it to fit on this strange neck pocket… Fun challenging task nevertheless, and plays like a dream 😎. Thanks, Chris.

Happy holidays everyone!
