Yesterday this was a $5 quilt from Goodwill.

Today it’s a quilted jacket with a denim collar.

One of my favorite things about sewing is seeing possibilities where other people see something that’s finished, outdated, or no longer useful.

And yes, these photos were taken after a day at the beach, so please forgive the vacation hair. 😄

The best part? I still have a lot of that quilt left, which means there may be another jacket—or two—in its future.

🌊 Denim Coastal Collection 🌊

A growing collection of handmade bags and accessories featuring repurposed denim, coastal-inspired fabrics, and lots of little details.

From totes and notebook covers to crossbody bags, eyeglass cases, zipper pouches, phone wallets, and key fobs, each piece was designed to coordinate while still having its own personality.

In our upcoming Trendy Tote class at Paisley Porch, students will create a basic tote and learn the construction techniques needed to complete the project successfully. These sample totes were made using fabrics available at Paisley Porch, and each one has its own personality depending on the fabric selection.

Do you have a favorite?

Students are welcome to bring their own fabric or purchase a kit from Paisley Porch. Either way, I’m excited to see everyone’s fabric choices and watch their totes come together! 🧵💕

This wine-inspired tote was originally designed with a winery in mind, featuring vineyard fabrics, wine glass details, a coordinating interior pocket, and signature bow handles.

But I have a feeling a certain lake-loving wine enthusiast may approve of this one too. 🍷😊

One of my favorite things about sewing is taking a pile of fabric and turning it into something you can actually wear and enjoy for years.

I’m excited to be teaching my first Quilted Coat Workshop on June 30! We’ll be using the same pattern featured in these photos, but each coat becomes completely unique based on fabric choices and personal style.

The scalloped coat is one I made for myself, while the floral hooded version was made by my mom using the same pattern. I love how different they look while starting from the same design.

This will be a small, hands-on workshop with plenty of individual guidance throughout the day. If you’ve ever wanted to make a quilted coat but felt intimidated to tackle it on your own, I’d be happy to share more information.

Delivered this custom Purdue tote yesterday 🖤💛

This one-of-a-kind bag was created from upcycled denim with custom Purdue fabrics, coordinating interior details, an attached key ring, and a matching Purdue wristlet tucked inside as a surprise gift.

I love creating custom pieces that reflect someone’s personality, favorite team, or school spirit — and this one turned out so fun.

The upcycled denim pockets and hardware details may be my favorite part of the whole design. 💛
