I had the chance to stipple two staccatos this past week and install new trigger and tune them to 3lbs. They turned out great!! Stippling was one of the first new skills I learned when I started Columbia Gunsmithing. If you are ever in need of a custom stipple or trigger job come by the shop and we can talk some options.

It’s that time of year! I wanted to give thanks to this community. The last few years have been brutal for gunsmiths and other gun related businesses. Some have had to close their doors, some have retired, some have moved out of state. In some ways, the community has gotten smaller, but I have felt the support and wisdom of those around me and those who have been here before me. Thank you to all of you who have left a review, sent someone my way, put out my business cards, or just come in to have your gun serviced. I’m very grateful. Happy Thanksgiving!.

Today we visited our old friend Jerry at Willamette National Cemetery. It is always humbling to see the sea of small American flags placed on every headstone. There was a sense of reverence there. I am grateful for the sacrifice of so many. Land of the free because of the brave.

It’s bluing day! Hot caustic bluing is an old timey Gunsmithing method that protects the metal and creates a beautiful gun-blue finish. Modern salts, techniques, and the process of alternating cleaning and soaking the gun in both an acid bath and a water displacing oil is what it takes to get this result. Bluing is time consuming, but one of the most satisfying processes. DM or call us to get your gun blued!
