Dave’s imagination, curiosity, and art are inspired by the landscapes of the Midwest, especially those of his Wisconsin homeland. A lifelong outdoorsman, his intimate watercolors carry within them the subtleties of light, shadow, and shading of prairies, lakes, and woods. His curiosity keeps him exploring, observing, camera in hand, across the intricate web of old back-country byways that reveal,
bit by bit, the rich human history of the upper Midwest... the farms, homesteads, and built-in landscapes of bygone explorers and settlers who also called this land their home. Dave’s wanderings way takes him and his wife, Collette, around the country and around the world. Wherever he goes, from the Lewis and Clark Trail to the plains of East Africa, Dave takes the images back to his studio on the shores of Thunder Lake and uses them in his art. Dave received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Ringling College of Art & Design in Sarasota, Florida and, along with his painting, had a career in graphic design and art direction. He lives with Collette, and their Brittany, Remy, in Three Lakes in the north woods of Wisconsin.
