☉ i haven’t been totally transparent.
i guess i’ve been trying to run my shop like a normal brand when in actuality, this one woman shop is far from ordinary.
So let me get more transparent✨
Yes, I go by Ama Akata, and my birth name is Angela Ama A. Adusah.
I moved into the United States (The Bronx 🙅🏿♀️) from Accra, Ghana when I was 7 and have lived here since. This shop is honestly birthed from my experience uncovering African philosophies and aesthetics hidden in the Americas and the rest of the world.
With this realization came a need for innovative essentials i didn’t necessarily see in the market place. Keeping my designed pieces for myself, i realized how others had a need for similar things though they couldn’t quite make know how to make them yet alone put into words.
so here I am, creating outside the box. i realized that, in my unpopular opinion, the only market that is saturated is the box you chose to fit in.
