A quick update on Summerific Hibiscus preorders!

We’ve moved the preorder launch to Wednesday, June 3 as we wait on final numbers from our grower on a fresh crop.

For the first time ever, we’ll be offering Summerific Hibiscus preorders beginning Monday, June 1st. This will be for local pick up only! No shipping at this time.

If you’ve never grown one before, Summerific Hibiscus are hardy perennials that produce dinner plate sized blooms in the heat of summer when many other perennials have already finished their biggest show.

They may look tropical, but they’re winter hardy in Central Illinois and return year after year.

A few reasons gardeners love them:

• Massive blooms
• Bloom in July and August
• Winter hardy in Zone 6b
• Great as a focal point in the landscape
• Available in some incredible colors

Preorders open Monday, June 6 on our website, with pickup beginning the following week!

See that hole forming in the center? All foliage, no blooms? Super common with fast-growing Supertunias and it can also happen when you water right on top of the basket over and over.

I cut them back, fertilized, and started using BugHut DeStressor weekly the last couple weeks and they’re already filling back in on top. A couple weeks is really all it takes for them to start filling in nicely again.

Finally getting around to planting my own planters at home and this combo by the pool is one I keep going back to.

I will forever be doing a mandevilla teepee in these containers. They love the heat, handle dry conditions surprisingly well once established, bloom all summer long, and are about as low maintenance as a full sun tropical look can get. Perfect if you want something that looks impressive without feeling high maintenance.
