The other owner of RedBird H**p, Kristi McGaughey, self surrendered at Bell County Jail this morning, at this time we don’t have a known bond amount for her.

Hello Fellow Redbirds,

We apologize for our silence the last few months, but we were cautioned by counsel to tread lightly until we had a better understanding of the legal ramifications surrounding the Redbird H**p raid, which occurred this past June.
Here is the latest update:

On Christmas Eve, Griffin McGaughey, was pulled over by police on a traffic stop and Griffin was arrested on a felony warrant related to the June 13, 2025, Temple raid on Redbird H**p. The exact charges are still unclear due to the district attorney’s office unwillingness to communicate, and refusal to share information with our attorneys, Dan Clancy and Scot Coutney. Mr. Clancy and Mr. Courtney, for 6 months, have been reaching out to the Bell County DA to let them know that we are here; we’re a family; and we have every intention of cooperating fully in their investigation. Despite our best efforts to communicate with prosecutors, the Bell County authorities decided the week before Christmas would be the appropriate time to issue warrants, and Christmas Eve was as good a time as any to arrest Griffin. We were shocked, which may have been the exact effect they intended.

Griffin was booked into the Bell County jail, and his bond was set as $80,000.00. Considered by our attorneys, and everyone we’ve spoken with to be excessively high for a h**p case. With the help of friends, family and other sources Griffin was able to post bail and come home to spend Christmas with his family. The Temple PD raid on RedBird H**p this past June has created an enormous financial hardship on the McGaughey's, not to mention the mental and physical stress its caused.

We opened and operated RedBird H**p, dedicated and committed to the lawful process our Texas legislature created for us when it legalized h**p, and the sale of h**p derived products. Anyone who stepped foot into RedBird H**p knows first hand how dedicated and serious the McGaughey's were about being responsible business owners, selecting quality products, and educating their clients to the best of their ability. RedBird H**p made sure that their products were only sold to responsible adults over the age of 21. Yes, they'd even ID you if you were 60+ years old!

This is great news for the h**p industry! Thank you Abbott for hearing all the voices that reached out and THANK Y’ALL for using your voices!!
Even though this is great news, our shop still remains closed after local police raided our shop and took all h**p products we carried. This fight is still not over, just on to the next chapter!! 💪

As some of y’all might already know, we are currently closed for business. It breaks our hearts but please know this is not by our choice or by our own wrongdoing. On Friday, June 13th, Temple Police Department came into our shop and confiscated all our h**p products. This left us effectively with no products to sell, forcing us to close our doors without notice. We do want to reassure y’all that our team has always operated with a strong commitment to compliance, transparency and safety. All products sold in our store are sourced responsibly and tested in accordance with Texas H**p Laws. We maintain certificates of analysis (COA’s), licensing, and implement age-verification protocols always.
We understand this news may cause concern, but please know:
-We stand by the legality and integrity of our business;
-We are working closely with legal counsel to resolve this situation;
-We are committed to protecting the rights of h**p businesses and the people they serve.

Our employees were trapped in the building for over 2 hours after closing AND we couldn’t help any clients after 4:00 from road closures 😵‍💫

Temple PD, SWAT officers surrounded a Temple home for nearly seven hours, utilizing tear gas and surveillance technology, before MacMann surrendered.

Incorrect. Most of us are mom and pop stores! Redbird started with a $500 investment.

2. We’re poisoning people.

Nope! Not how that works.

5. “Nothing is more important than stopping a kid from getting ahold of this junk”.
Once again, we only sell to 21+ consenting adults. Y’all there is literally sunny d vodka seltzer on the shelf at Specs in Temple. When was the last time you drank sunny d?? I’ll wait… I personally, was a kid.

6. The media and general public are the threat. CORRECT, but only because we haven’t wanted this bill from the beginning yet somehow we’re here..
