St. Joan of Arc challenged societal norms and fought for true justice.

She was a young peasant girl who believed she was divinely guided to lead the French army against the English, a feat considered impossible for women at the time.

What impossible thing are you doing?

"With God all things are possible". Phillipians 4:14

St. Dymphna stood firm in her faith despite deep trauma and became a beacon of healing for others, especially with mental health.

St. Elizabeth Ann Seton (1774–1821) was a New York socialite turned spiritual powerhouse who proves that God can rewrite your story at any stage of life. Widowed young and left in financial hardship with five kids, she encountered Catholicism through deep suffering—and instead of playing it safe, she followed the truth straight into the Church, even though it cost her relationships and stability. She went on to found the first Catholic school system in the United States and started the Sisters of Charity, basically becoming the blueprint for Catholic education in America. Elizabeth didn’t have an easy life—she had a surrendered one. She reminds us that holiness often looks like showing up faithfully in the middle of chaos, trusting God one day at a time, and loving the people right in front of you like it actually matters (because it does).

Bl. Chiara Luce Badano (1971–1990) was a modern-day teen who shows that sainthood isn’t reserved for the distant past—it can look like sneakers, friendships, and a radiant smile. A member of the Focolare Movement, Chiara loved Jesus deeply and lived her faith with contagious joy, but at 17 she was diagnosed with a painful bone cancer. Instead of turning inward, she offered her suffering to God, famously saying, “For you, Jesus—if you want it, I want it too.” She refused morphine at times so she could remain clear-minded to love and pray, and even in intense pain, she kept choosing joy, thinking of others, and trusting completely in God’s plan. She died at 18, calling her death a “wedding” with Jesus.

St. Ignatius of Loyola (1491–1556) started off as a glory-chasing soldier with big ego energy—until a cannonball shattered his leg and his life plans. Stuck in recovery with nothing but books on Christ and the saints, he had a slow realization: the things of God actually satisfied him in a way fame never did. So he ditched the old script, embraced radical conversion, and went on to found the Jesuits, one of the most influential orders in Church history. Ignatius gave us the Spiritual Exercises, basically a masterclass in discernment—learning how to notice where God is moving in your daily life and actually follow Him. He reminds us that God doesn’t waste anything—not even your mess or your midlife crisis—and that becoming a saint often starts with paying attention to what’s going on in your own heart.

St. Cecilia, a 2nd–3rd century Roman martyr, is the patron saint of music—but her life wasn’t a soft hymn, it was a full-on battle of devotion. A noblewoman consecrated to Christ, she was forced into marriage, yet on her wedding day she told her husband she belonged first to God—plot twist: he converted instead of freaking out. Cecilia went on to evangelize boldly, bringing others to the faith, until persecution caught up with her. Even after a failed ex*****on attempt, she survived for days, using her final moments to preach and strengthen believers. Tradition says she sang to God in her heart even as she faced death, which is why she’s forever linked to sacred music. Cecilia reminds us that true worship isn’t about sounding pretty—it’s about a life so in tune with Christ that even suffering becomes a song.
