The shop that searches the world over for early Harriet Lane Handbooks is pleased to present this scarce Fifth Edition: 1969, Johns Hopkins, Winkelstein & Herbert.

I've only ever found one other volume in this edition, and it sold before I got the photos uploaded. I priced this one to give it a little time to settle on the shelf and draw some admiring looks.

Vintage Tolkien box set in original pictorial slipcase that boasts, “Twelve million readers can’t be wrong!” 1986 reprint of the first Ballantine edition (1965) of “The Lord of the Rings” trilogy and “The Hobbit” in pastel paperbacks by Houghton Mifflin, Random House, and George Allen & Unwin. Printed in the United States. Overall. very good vintage condition with signs of age, as photographed. Books are unread. Light damage to the front cover of “The Hobbit,” and back cover of “The Two Towers.” Light shelfware to the edges. The slipcase is sturdy and intact, with shelfware (bumps and rubbing) and some soiling. Please zoom in on photos, if possible, to examine the condition. Displays impressively.
