1989 Tour de France™ : Greg LeMond started the final stage 50 seconds down and finished 8 seconds ahead after an incredible final time trial into Paris.

His 58-second gain in the final stage remains the largest comeback ever overturned in the Tour’s final time trial, while the 8-second overall victory still stands as the closest margin in Tour de France history.

Need to catch up on the day’s stage? Stop in the shop anytime and see all the action in ultra high def. 📺🚴🏽‍♂️

MOVIE MADNESS MONDAY MAYHEM MANIA:
🚲🍿🎥
Released in 2003, The Triplets of Belleville is a wildly imaginative, nearly dialogue-free animated film that follows Madame Souza as she searches for her grandson, a cyclist kidnapped during the Tour de France.

Created by Sylvain Chomet, the film uses thousands of hand-drawn 2D illustrations inspired by 1930s–1950s French caricatures, silent films, and vintage cartoons, resulting in a dreamlike visual style unlike almost anything else in animation.

The cycling sequences draw heavily from archival footage and the mythology of early Tour de France racing, capturing both the suffering and romance that have long defined cycling culture in France. Nominated for two Academy Awards, it has become a cult favorite among cyclists and animation fans alike for its unique blend of artistry, humor, music, and endurance-driven storytelling.

MOVIE MONDAY MADNESS MAYHEM MANIA:
🎥🍿🚲
Quicksilver (1986) introduced the world to bike courier culture. Starring Kevin Bacon (riding the wave of Footloose) as a Wall Street trader who loses everything and finds a new life as a bicycle messenger on the streets of San Francisco. More than a rom-dram, it’s a love letter to messenger life, packed with alley-cat racing, wheelies, courier camaraderie, and a wild bike vs car finale. Bacon reportedly trained with real messengers for the role, helping create the daredevil bikecourier mythology that later inspired films like Premium Rush.

Filmed mostly on the hills and streets of the Bay Area, no 80s bike cinema is complete without an elaborate choreographed bike dance sequence shot in a sprawling loft.

Honorable mention for Laurence Fishburne (credited as “Larry Fishburne”) who plays Voodoo, years before Boyz n the Hood and his iconic role as Morpheus in The Matrix. Jamie Gertz and Louie Anderson adding early starpower to the ensemble.
