Today’s is J-Bar Hobbies’ Co-Founder, Jerry Bindus’s Heavenly Birthday. He would’ve been 94 today.

There’s not many days that go by where he doesn’t cross our minds. Every day we are here at the store, we are surrounded by the things he loved most. His beautiful wife Barbara, his plastic models, and his customers.

Today, I want to share a few things that made him so special. So that you can also carry him in your hearts today.

1. He loved all animals, especially dogs. He had a soft spot for dogs. He loved their intelligence, their loyalty, and of course — their cuteness.

2. He loved working in the yard. He’d spend hours outside making his yard the prettiest on the block. Even when he started slowing down, he still enjoyed working outdoors.

3. He was a big time family man. He had five kids and nine grandkids. Family traditions were incredibly important to him. One of his favorite family traditions was an annual fall walk his family would go on.

4. This one might be obvious, but loved model building. He had an impressive collection of model aircraft he built. Many are on display at the store to this day.

5. Most of all, he loved his wife, Barbara. Not only were they husband and wife, but they were best friends. Married for over 60 years, five kids, a very successful business, and endless memories.

We miss you today & everyday. Happy Heavenly Birthday. 🫶

THIS SATURDAY (April 25th) we will have a restock of Nee Doh Gumdrops. We are implementing a limit of one per person, as we have less than 50 available. If you choose to arrive early, please line up at rear the of our building. We will open at 10am and will update this post when we are sold out.
