Do You Like Kilts and Travel? Maybe need a summer job? A fellow Scottish Retail shop is looking for you!
"We're looking for a crew, a two-person team, to travel around the country attending Scottish, Irish, and other Celtic festivals and events. It's a lot of hard work, but also a lot of fun.
This job requires two people with different talents sharing the work and responsibilities. This team can be two people who know each other, applying for the job together, or two separate individuals. Whether you take this job as a couple, friends, family, associates, or complete strangers, you must be capable of working and living together in close-quarters on the road for weeks at a time away from home.
The job will require long hours of sitting in and driving a truck, towing a large trailer, hard work, and heavy lifting. The events can also be long hours. But the time traveling between events will be your time for exploring the country.
Retail management skills are essential. You will be responsible for setting up and managing our remote "store" locations, including managing temp laborers and retail workers. In this sales environment, you must be friendly, outgoing, and good with customers. You must have a good eye for setting up an appealing "store" environment. We strive to present a professional, fun environment for our customers.
Because we specialize in custom-made kilts and other clothing, you will need to learn how to take accurate measurements and place orders. You must be comfortable with measuring people (men, women, and children) to fit for kilts, kilted skirts, jackets, etc. Sometimes this gets a bit "up close and personal", and you can't be squeamish about it.
You need to be a self-motivated, self-starter, get-er-done kinda person. This job will not work for you if you are a "wait to be told what to do" kinda person.
We, the owners, Joseph and Lorie, have run events for 16 years. We love working together and have enjoyed traveling the country. Our business needs us to be present in the office more and not gone for weeks at a time attending events. In a perfect world, we would clone ourselves for this job (well maybe younger, stronger clones :-). We need a team that will care about our events and connect with our customers like we do. We are truly a family business and are looking for a team to join The Celtic Croft family.
A good driving record is a must, and will be checked as a requirement of employment.
Experience towing and backing a trailer is almost required. It is a skill we can teach, but it will be difficult for you to do the job without this skill unless you are a really fast learner.
