Vibes are just around the corner ahead…

Find me on Bent St most days - right in the heart of DT Taos. 117 Bent. Underneath the Governor Bent sign, in the old adobe of the OG Gov Bent House from the 1800’s. 3ft thick original walls.

Leather work is by me, right here.
100% by hand in the old saddle making tradition. Steer hide. Tanned with oak tree bark. Hand stitch. I dye and paint most myself.

Everything else, as I say, comes from friends. And it’s true: from here in Taos, through North America to Mexico, Europe, Africa and Japan.

So come through for vibes, leave with stories and maybe a little piece or two from the collection.

I’m finally back in the studio working on some new styles.
Here’s my take on the old hippie-boho bag.

This example is 6/7 vegtan - meaning it has some thickness to it and is all naturally tanned leather.
The front panel is painted lilac, the back panel + flap is painted bone, the gusset is natural and will patina quickly. I dyed the shoulder strap and cross strap indigo.
Natural lace, knotted on the inside with a bead on each end to keep it all in place. Also, letting the lace stay long on the sides.

Will offer natural, black, etc but fun to play with color on this one.

The humble Tissue Box Cover has become a new staple in the MS Classics line-up.

As always, hand cut from the best US saddle-making leathers and stitched using a traditional double needle looped saddle stitch.

Sometimes - as with these - colors are applied by hand using water-based dyes, or painted in signature patterns by me, aka Peter Maxwell aka Max.

Now handmade in Taos New Mexico!

Look out for a subtle rebrand of website and socials as the “inla” isn’t as accurate anymore..
