A lil’ throwback Thursday to the first time my fam and I took the boat 40 miles offshore. While my dad, Papaw, and I were bottom fishing for grouper and snapper, we dropped another line in the back of the boat. We baited it with a big fish head and had it sitting in a rod holder. As time went on, nothing took the bait in the back of the boat. I proceeded to ask my Papaw if I should reel it in and get it out of our way. As soon as I said that the bait was hit.
Within 30 minutes of fighting this fish, my dad was petitioning me to cut the line, but if you know me… I don’t like to give up 😂 While I am fighting this fish, my dad is pouring buckets of water and layering me up with protection from the sizzlin’, Florida sun.
So, after a long three hours… I finally landed a 10-13ft Thresher Shark 🦈 Where I landed this shark ended up becoming one of our favorite hot spots to fish. The moral of the story is don’t quit the good fight otherwise you won’t know what you are missing out on!
