As Local 2339 representatives and other firefighters from around the US and Canada meet to do business in Texas this week, it is clear what our priorities are. At each end of the convention hall, the men and women lost in the last year remain enshrined every day, all day.
While we vote on a measure regarding funding for the IAFF Foundation, they are there. During the information and adoption of a code of conduct for fire gear manufacturers to keep them from putting carcinogens in our gear, the brothers and sisters are present. They watched over the discussion as we debate the IAFF’s stance and process for allowing retiree members.
The reason is simple: our men and women, brothers and sisters lie at the heart of everything we do. Their fair treatment, competitive pay, job safety and more is why the IAFF, including Local 2339 and thousands of others, do what we do.
Thank you, brothers and sisters, for the reminder and making service of fellow firefighters such a solemn duty.
