Happy Friday from River & Rail

It’s shaping up to be a beautiful weekend, and we’ve been busy filling the shop with new arrivals from both us and our amazing local vendors.

We’ve got fresh sourdough bread, cold drinks, snacks, gifts, handmade goods, and all kinds of fun finds throughout the store. And after what felt like forever, our squish dumplings have finally arrived! 🥟 We’ve already stocked up, and even more varieties are on the way.

Whether you’re heading to the Farmers Market, strolling Main Street, or just looking for a reason to get out and enjoy the sunshine, stop in and see what’s new. We can’t wait to see you!

This Sunday at River & Rail, we’re excited to welcome local pottery artist Barbara Bustard for a live pottery wheel demonstration during the Sykesville Farmers Market from 9AM–1PM!

Barbara has been working with clay for over 40 years and will be set up outside the shop, showing how she creates pieces on the wheel in real time. She’ll also have a selection of her pottery available for purchase, including some brand new pieces she’s bringing specially for the market.

Barbara also teaches workshops and group classes, so this is a great chance to stop by, watch the process, ask questions, and experience a true artisan at work.

Stop by, grab a cold drink and a snack/ toy for the kiddos, browse our amazing local vendors, and spend your Sunday supporting handmade, local art and small businesses. 🤎

Well the coolest thing happened today while I was working At River & Rail. The sweetest customers, Amy, Hildy and Marcie came in. They had visited last week as well. And then the coolest thing happened. I looked in the kids room and Amy was on the phone with her two grandchildren FaceTimeing
them from Israel. Yes, Israel.  We sell some lightly used books, and she had picked up “the cat in the hat” book  which her grandchildren had never heard before. ( I found that so interesting). She told me that she brings books with her everywhere because she doesn’t get to see her grandchildren very often so often times she will just FaceTime them and read them stories. Enjoy this. I loved it. My grandson Nico just happened to be there at the same time she was doing this and he enjoyed it as well.
