October's Child

October's Child Color. Texture. And the occasional element of surprise. There are many facets to October's Child. Ladies' wearables (my favorite) created from an array of fibers.

Felted wool bracelets, cuffs, hats, phone pouches, and nesting bowls. Crocheted hats in sizes from baby to adult and pretty much everyone in between. My October's Child heart is full and alive when I am able to crochet!

Intertwined peace.

The knit along with Woolyknit and Well-Loved Knits has come to a close. My Flax Sweater is not quite completed...so a WIP (work in progress) it is!

After knitting away on the sleeves and down the body of the sweater, I knew for a fact I would not have enough of the organic baby cotton that I had paired with the Woolyknit British Wool.

But I didn’t think of it as a conflict...more of an opportunity. A change-it-up, do-something-unexpected moment. So for this, I reached for a lovely (squishy, wooly, lovelylovelylovely) hank of “Peace Fleece” in the color “Gonna Be Alright.”

Of course it is. *wink*

Bluesy love on the needles.

Marling a Woolyknit 100% British Wool fi*****ng weight (from a 200 gram hank) in “Indigo”...with a 100% Organic Baby Cotton (dk weight?) from Gazzal.

The texture of the pairing is oddly and surprisingly lovely!

Realizing why the “Flax Sweater” by Tin Can Knits is a popular pattern! My first. But already scheming more renditions in my mind!

There just happens to be a cone of Woolyknit 100% British Wool in “August Peach” and a hank of “Sunflower” tempting me....

Yes! We have progress! And we have distractions.

Progress with the Woolyknit British Wool in “Lava Neon” (held double for stripes) and Lion Brand Fishermen’s Wool in “Oatmeal.”

Perhaps even more of an unlikeliness in pairings would be myself and the “Lava Neon.” I love a neutral! So this pop of neon has been a trip...but I am loving it!

Distractions. There are always plenty here...but for now I am dreaming of pairing/marling either the Woolyknit British Wool in “Indigo” or “Pine Forest Green” with a 100% organic cotton from Gazzal. Going for a boujee sweatshirt vibe. So there could very well be another (sweater) on the needles soon!

Taking part in the (unlikely pairs knit along) with and .lovedknits.

Unlikely pairs. That tends to be sort of my *knit language* if you will. I love an unexpected marl of colors or an odd (to some folks) pairing of fibers.

Pairing Woolyknit’s British Wool (200 gram hank) in the color “Lava Neon” with Lion Brand’s nostalgic Fisherman’s Wool in the color “Oatmeal.” The “Tolsta Tee” by .creabea is on the needles...and patiently waiting for me and my coffee.

Bye for now!

And the winner of yarn chicken is....

With a mere two grams of yarn remaining!

This finished Vesuvius Tee, designed by the thoughtful and innovative Sandra of Nomad Stitches, was indeed modified slightly by myself. Solely to be sure (and often not-so-sure) there would be enough yarn. That was my own doing...or fault. Whatever we like to call it. But I am totally okay with that. In fact, that is pretty much how I roll. I once heard someone say “I don’t make mistakes. I create opportunities.”

I know that there will be a #2 in my future. And maybe with that one I will *play by the rules*.

: “Love love loved this design. Thank you, Sandra! 💗 The stitch combinations...sweetly simple yet engaging. The way the shoulders and arm area fit. Crocheted icord...game changer! The tutorials and tips and tricks you shared...I am thoroughly hooked!”

Hmmm...no, wait...already self modifying the next one in my mind. Longer sleeves...maybe 3/4? Definitely doing the icord! Longer bodice. Wooly yar....

…hoping my crochet hook has some kind of magical power.

I am playing a serious game of “crochet faster ‘cause you’re running out of yarn.” (My fellow crocheters and knitters, do you ever feel like you’re doing that?) Modifications are in-the-works as well, in attempts to win at yarn chicken. Crossing my fingers!

November One of 2022. Sunlight streaming in through the windows, creating shadows. Warmer temperatures outdoors than inside. A knit in progress — yes, KNIT — on the needles. Things worth documenting!

Everyone has mornings like that, right? Your coffee is rich and hot. Everything is all peachy and beautiful.

And the next minute, you find yourself in a tangle.

Just breathe.
