The Nightshade

Laila Vaish is the Nightshade.

After fleeing her family and vanishing into the Lower City, Laila survives by selling secrets and sabotage, burying the moral cost beneath the gold she earns. But when a high-profile job goes sideways, she’s caught by the cunning councilman Jelani Cadmar, known for his defiance of the royal vizier. He offers her a choice: rot in prison or spy for him inside the palace.

To protect her own secrets, Laila agrees.

Disguised as one of the Aristocracy, Laila is swept into the personal and political intrigue surrounding the Council of the Sultan. Shay Rodricks

Shay Rodricks started her storytelling journey in musical theater and obsessively reading fantastical worlds from her favorite authors. She fell in love with writing as a way to tell the stories she wants to read and explore the worlds she wants to explore.

Her titles other than author include: coffee queen, tattoo addict, trashy tv lover, wishful dragon rider, dancer, world traveler (when she can afford it), and chocoholic. Shay currently lives in Atlanta, Georgia, with her wonderful hubs, their (mostly) angelic kiddos, an old man dog, and a ball python named Steve.

After graduating from Mercer University, Shay became an active member in the Atlanta writing community and is now a board member for Broadleaf Writers Association.
