Gem 1910-S Saint Gaudens Double Eagle NGC MS65

Although more than 2.1 million twenty dollar gold pieces were manufactured at San Francisco in 1910, it is believed that only 9,500 or so examples survive, mostly from holdings repatriated from Europe, and Central and South America. Many of the survivors are found in bags marked AU and low-end Mint State grades. MS65 examples without significant marks and an above-average strike are few and far between. Extremely Rare Pattern Dollar - 1863 Seated Liberty Dollar Judd-347 NGC PR66 Cameo

Judd-347 is a so-called transitional issue that uses the dies of the regular Seated Liberty dollar of the year, but bears the addition of the motto IN GOD WE TRUST on the reverse scroll, of the type introduced on regular-issue coinage in 1866. This beauty is actually a “restrike”, produced circa 1869 and struck in aluminum with a reeded edge. Aluminum representatives of this design are rarer than their copper and silver counterparts. The one we offer here is essentially untoned, with just light haziness over each side. It is lighter and brighter than seen in our images. As is often seen on aluminum patterns, there is obvious and pleasing contrast between the fields and devices. This issue is a high R-7 with only 5 examples traced. Listed at $30,000 in PR65 and $45,000 in PR67 in the PCGS price guide.

Stunning Rarity 1810 Large Date Large 5 Capped Bust Half Eagle
NGC MS65

Fortunately, for type collectors, this variety is available within the context of the overall-rare Capped Bust half eagles. The example herein offered is dazzling in its appearance, with a highly lustrous, semi-prooflike obverse and a frosty reverse. Its strike is sharp and the overall appearance is about as good as it gets. This is one of only 5 examples to have received this grade from NGC, with just two graded higher. We have not had the privilege to offer an NGC MS65 representative at auction since 2008. Listed at $147,500 in the NGC price guide.
