I know I've mentioned this before but it is really bothering me! I got my hair done last week, the cut was awful and the color literally looks like I haven't had it done in weeks. She didn't even cover my roots completely where my bangs are or give me the color I requested. Someone even told me they could tell no difference, and I was going for drastic change. The place I went to was more up-scale and I was expecting to LOVE it! But I honestly want to throw it up in a ponytail and not even do anything with it. I didn't say anything in the salon because it wasn't well lit and I didn't realize how much roots she left showing until I got home and really looked. What would y'all do in the situation? I do not want to be rude or even name the person because she may have had an off day, but I need my hair fixed and I already paid good money to get it done. What should I do?

I have had my share of problems at Belk in Sumter. However, lately I feel as though the customer service has gotten much better! I went in there yesterday to buy a gift and I was in a huge hurry! After FINALLY finding what I needed, I went to the register. The cashier came right to me and rang it all up and even offered to wrap it... for free because it was a registry gift. She did not have to offer because I would have never known that it was included. She did a great job dealing with my scatter-brained self. The last few times I've been in there I've received great customer service. The only complaint I do have is I don't feel like they have enough people working. I've walked all around the store to find a register open. So, if you've had a bad experience at Belk in the past, I would suggest you try again. I feel as though all my complaints have been heard and they are slowly hiring more friendly associates.

Has anyone tried a hair salon called The Venue? I am looking for a new hair stylist but I've had the most trouble finding one in Sumter. I am NEVER satisfied anymore... It's either they are rude and could care less or they do an awful job and don't listen to what I want. I am MORTIFIED after the color and cut I received this weekend and am NOT happy. I need help!

Susie's Boutique on Bultman

I usually don't do much shopping at boutiques because they are closed by the time I get off work. Lately I've had some time off during the day, so I've been browsing. I like some of the small boutiques on Bultman, but they can be a little pricey! Susie's is having a 50% off sale through the end of the summer. Almost everything is 50% off, excluding one or two racks. Susie is a very nice lady and will do anything to help you, but she doesn't push you to buy anything! That's one thing that I hate about smaller businesses, I feel so pressured to buy something! So, if you're looking for a cute top or dress, or even some name brand jeans, check out Susie's on Bultman! I'm pretty sure they are open until 5 on weekdays, but I'm not sure of the weekend schedule.

Where are your favorite boutiques?

I'd like to tell you about Perfect Nail in the same plaza as Yucatan and TJ MAXX. I used to get pedicures 1-2 times a month, but haven't had a chance to lately, so today I went. At the urging of a friend who was going with me, I went to Perfect Nail. I'd been there before a few years ago, but I've been to so many places in Sumter so I couldn't exactly remember my last experience. We went in and were greeted with the usual "Hi, what you want?" and "Pick your color." routine. I was expecting to wait, but they chairs and water were ready as soon as we finished picking our colors. I was thinking that *maybe* I'd found my new pedicure spot! However, the lady doing my toes was the rudest woman I've ever had while getting a pedicure. She didn't speak the entire time. I made a few comments apologizing that I was antsy because I was ticklish... she said nothing. The only thing she said was "too hot?" when she refilled the water. She asked if I wanted the sugar scrub, but didn't specify what it was. Thankfully, the lady I was with had already agreed to it so I did as well. It was great! BUT, the lady doing my toes started after the other lady and finished before her. That's a little sad because I always look forward to the massage that comes with a pedicure! She did a good job on my toes, but the customer service was awful! I don't want to get my head talked off, but I also don't want to spend $28 on a pedicure and be treated poorly the entire time. My question is... Where do you get your pedicures/manicures? It's been a while since I've had a good experience all-around and I'm looking for my new favorite pedicure spot!

Hi all! I am hoping to share some of the best businesses and services around Sumter! For my first post, I'd like to share my experience at Ultra Tan.

I was very hesitant when I decided to give Ultra Tan a try. I know there are lots of locally owned tanning salons around Sumter and I've usually only used those. However, earlier this year I signed up for a very expensive package at a locally owned tanning salon in Sumter, and when I went to put my account on hold because I would be out of town almost all a month, I was treated very rudely. I found that Ultra Tan had the most convenient hours.
I went in expecting them to not be so nice. However, they were very polite. They even offered to give me a tour of the place before I signed up! I was in and out in less than 10 minutes after signing up. When I went in to tan for the first time, they were very polite. They asked what kind of lotion I was using and offered tips (FYI order your tanning lotion off Amazon, especially if you have Amazon Prime, it is actually affordable and is the same brand sold in stores). The girls working there are extremely helpful and are always suggesting new products. I like Ultra Tan because an appointment is NOT necessary which works best for me because I rarely know my schedule. They are open late at night and on the weekends, so you're not paying for unlimited tanning and the place is never open when you want to tan. I have never waited to get a bed there, and usually the one I like it open. If it's not, the other beds work just fine. I would definitely suggest Ultra Tan to anyone looking for a very convenient and friendly place to tan!

Lately I've noticed that people are not as polite or thankful when you are giving them business. I've found this in local businesses and chain stores. So, I want to evaluate these places that are usually frequented by WOMEN and give you ladies some good shopping advice, because I'm a total shopalic!
