With great sadness, my father went home.
For many days, machines sustain what his body no longer could, and we waited in that quiet, sacred space between holding on and letting go. But long before today, his soul had already begun its journey. What remained was not the man we loved , but the final chapter of a life that had been fully lived.
My father was more than his failing heart, more than his final hours. He was humor, southern wisdom, and his quirky stories. He was the kind of man who showed up, who carried burdens without complaint, and who loved his family in ways both loud and quiet. His hands built, his heart protected, and his presence anchored us.
To be his child was a gift. To be loved by him was a privilege I will carry for the rest of my life.
Today, I choose to believe that when the machines were silenced, what was truly my father was already free, restored, whole, and at peace. No more pain. No more struggle. Just rest.
We will miss his voice, his guidance, his stubbornness, his laughter. But we will honor him in how we live, how we love, and how we care for one another, just as he taught us.
Rest now, Dad.
Thank you for everything.
You are deeply loved.
And you will never be forgotten
Your youngest daughter,
Jera Nicole
