Flipped Table Games

Flipped Table Games We are a locally owned and operated gaming/hobby shop. Stop by and you will always find an owner behind the counter. Next up is Christopher Tyrrell! She does!

Our store started as a dream 10+ years ago when we were all UWW students, and it finally came to fruition October 8, 2020. The carpet was old and suspicious, but it managed because of its dark brown color, which was probably the original intent of the landlord. We spread our packs out on the floor of the living room in the typically terrible college apartment, opening them hastily to reveal the co

ntents we had gambled on (spoiler alert: we pulled a Tarmogoyf--a box of Future Sight was still cheap then, but the goyf wasn’t!). It was 2010, and we were 20-something year old college students, never having enough money for textbooks, nor for Magic The Gathering cards. It was a relief that the haul for the night was a good one. We played Magic every night mostly, sometimes through the night, and occasionally we'd play some more in the morning (afternoon), too. Magic was something to do in-between food service jobs and classes--it gave us some amusement while procrastinating our homework. We'd all come to college having already developed a love for the game, and we all have our particular stories of how that happened for us. Magic connected us to our past--to the children we had been the first time we opened a booster pack. And in that moment, Magic connected us to each other and told the story of who we were-- hyper-intelligent(self-coined) goblin lovers, mono-white loyalists stuck on enchantment magic, and do**he bag deck-builders. We didn't know it then, but Magic would hold us together even once college was over and we all moved on to separate cities and to our (yawn) "adult" jobs. Now, sitting here in the store we opened--the store we had our first brainstorming session for during our late night college magic marathons--we can say with certainty what we didn't know back when we were playing Magic together in college--Magic the Gathering launched us into our future, shaping the lives that we would come to lead. So, who are “we?”

There is Jeremy Neumann, the aforementioned goblin lover (it’s his main flaw, so we forgive it). Jeremy grew up in Fort Atkinson and is a lifelong Wisconsinite (except for a brief stint working in Chicago after college), so, as to be expected, he is a beer and cheese loving type of guy (ask him about his beer collection if you don’t have anywhere to be). He still has his old Pokemon collection, which is in great shape, considering he used to play with his cards unsleeved on the bus seats during his hour commute to school (the reality for “country” kids). Jeremy is lucky to have his parents and siblings in the local area, even though none of them share his nerdiness--it’s nice that they can stop by the store to make fun of him with a good amount of frequency! Jeremy is a risk-taker and a dreamer, but oddly enough, he’s also incredibly practical and is no-nonsense when it comes to getting the job done (except in EDH, sometimes he’s very nonsense as he kills us all with Ashling). He really has goblins coming out of every or***ce, as no matter the game, he’s gonna find some version of them to play! You may know Chris from the Stoughton Pizza Hut--he is the general manager there. Chris mainly can be found at Flipped Table on Wednesdays and Thursdays, but sometimes he’ll be around in the evenings after he’s done at Pizza Hut for the night. Chris has been a Magic the Gathering and Heroclix judge for Planet Chaos in Fort Atkinson and a Heroclix Judge for Pegasus Games in Madison. He has also been running a commander group out of the Stoughton Pizza Hut garden room for the last three years! Chris is very excited to use his talent in bringing a crowd together to host events at Flipped Table once Covid is more manageable. Chris is a gaming guy through and through--if it exists, he plays it, and he usually wins, unless everyone gangs up on him (it’s a legit strategy!)! And when it comes to painting minis, he could teach most people a thing or two, and he will gladly do so if you ask him! He is a family man with four kids and a wife… which brings us to the next person, who coincidentally happens to be his better half! The final owner of Flipped Table Games is Trisha Massia. She was born and raised in central Wisconsin, but has called Dane County her home for the last decade--all of her kids were born here and you can find them in attendance at Fox Prairie and River Bluff (great schools, if anyone is wondering). Trisha would rather wax nostalgic in her deck-building than try to be competitive, and she doesn’t care what the results are! If you’ve got some hot white cards (or even jank ones), she’s a good bet for taking them off your hands--bonus points if they have “angel” as a creature type. Do you like the “Cats” musical movie? Is it eccentricity or does she have a screw loose? Let's not dwell on that! And together we form-- Voltr…. I mean, Flipped Table Games!! If you’ve read so far, man, what dedication you have! In conclusion: stop by, join our tight knit family, and rage quit with us!
