1978, I grabbed my first Nikon camera and a few months later I saw a photography magazine that had a photo from Grand Teton National Park. I was hooked and had to go to Morman Row and get a photo in front of the barn. Well, almost 50 years later, and it is still standing.
Jackson WY and Grand Tetons NP. Wow, so stunning how the white capped peaks just come right out of the lake or Valley in front of us with no foothills at all. I can’t say I’ve ever seen anything like this.

Not the best photos but when we were heading across Northern Wyoming, crossing a mountain pass coming down toward Grand Teton NP, we came around a corner and there was a beautiful mommy grizzly bear and her two cubs out for a walk. Nature, it sure is beautiful.

From Devils Tower we moved to Keyhole State Park in NE Wyoming. After Brinkley helped us make dinner, we had a beautiful sunset, followed by some great walks the next morning before heading out again.

On to our next stop… and I’ll be honest, we don’t know what to expect - would it be underwhelming? NO, Devils Tower National Monument was awesome. It’s so very different from anything we’ve seen. Also hit up a really cool fire watch tower on the way there. (By the way, we stopped at Jewel Cave NP but it was Sunday- and it was closed! Uugggggg)

From the Badlands, we drove through Custer State Park, south of Rapid City, South Dakota because we wanted to see the damage from the December wind storm. It’s horrible. The park in some areas is being reshaped. Then we went over to the classic Mount Rushmore. Been there many times, but it’s always fun.

Back on the road, spent the night on The Wall. If you know you know! The evening started out surprisingly calm, but we didn’t take the bait. Woke up at 2 AM to 40 mile an hour gusts coming up the side of the Badlands craters, rocking our rig for the rest of the morning.
…that’s more like it. Ha ha

Last stop in our desert SW Spring tour this year is Canyonlands National Park. We didn’t think it would be much, boy were we wrong! Another beautiful Utah NP for sure. Next time we hike to the confluence!! (Colorado and Green rivers).

Next up, Arches NP. We only had time for the first half of the main drive, had to find our Boondocking site for the night - spring break has things a bit busy. Wow, more huge rocks!

From Bryce we moved to Capitol Reef NP and were surprised by its beauty. Brinkley had fun too.
