I’m trying something new and a little yarn forward, and I think you’ll love it.

You know those soft, fluffy skeins of yarn — basically the knitting/crochet world’s version of a cute, squishy “ball of yarn” just waiting to become something cozy? Well… I need a whole bunch of them to keep making free blankets for people who truly need warmth, comfort, and a reminder that they’re not alone.

Here’s the heart of it:
becca's blankies is a for profit maker (because yarn, life, and electricity aren’t free), but I’m also building a way to give blankets away at no cost to people who need them most. To make that possible, I’m starting a tiny community powered yarn fund.

The Blankie Vibe

The other night my husband was sitting in his chair—smirking, arms crossed, absolutely delighted to give me a hard time—because I was under a blankie while it was eighty‑five degrees outside. He pointed at me like I was violating some kind of seasonal law.

“We have the air conditioner on full blast,” he said. “Why do you need a blanket?”

But he doesn’t understand the Blankie Vibe.

A blankie isn’t about temperature.
It’s about escape.

Life gets heavy. The world gets loud. And sometimes the only thing that makes sense is tucking yourself under a soft little layer of peace. A blankie is emotional armor disguised as coziness. It’s a tiny shelter you can carry anywhere. It’s the soft weight that tells your nervous system, “You’re safe. You can breathe.”

Meanwhile, he’s in his chair watching me like I’m conducting a scientific experiment in comfort. I’m wrapped up like a summer burrito, thriving in my air‑conditioned cocoon, living my best snuggly life while he tries to make sense of it.

The Blankie Vibe is a lifestyle.
A philosophy.
A gentle rebellion against the idea that comfort needs to be justified.

Some people decompress with hobbies or workouts or deep breathing.
I decompress by becoming a cozy little mound of blanket‑covered serenity.

He may never understand why I’m wrapped up in July, but I do. The blankie is my escape hatch from the heaviness of the day. It’s softness, security, and a tiny moment of calm in a world that doesn’t always offer it freely.

The Blankie Vibe isn’t seasonal.
It’s survival.
And I’m embracing it—year‑round.

Strength for Her, Hope for All of Them - A blankie story request!

Some friendships stitch themselves into your life so steadily you don’t notice the pattern until years later. She’s been one of those people for me — one of my oldest friends, always showing up, always choosing my blankies for her family and the people she loves. Her husband built us a beautiful table and wouldn’t take a dime, and she only accepted a blanket when I insisted on a trade. That’s the kind of quiet generosity they live by.

Her mother has always been part of that circle too. She’s not one for soft edges or flowery words — she’s direct, clear, the kind of woman who would look you straight in the eye and say, “You’re invited and you’re coming.” No hesitation, no fuss, just truth you can lean on.

This spring, her strength has been tested again and again. A fall at the end of her driveway. A broken arm. Then another fall, the other arm broken, a fractured vertebrae, a rehabilitation stay, another fall, and now surgery (right now as I write this) to help her fragile bones hold her up again. She is tired, but she is stubborn so hopefully she keeps fighting.

If you have a little hope to spare today, send it their way — to her, to the family carrying her through each setback, to the healing that needs to find her and stay. Love doesn’t need perfect words to travel. It just needs people willing to send it.
