Hollywood has always taken a permissive approach to adaptations. When Sam Zimbalist, an MGM producer, wanted a new movie of Lew Wallace’s 1880 novel Ben-Hur, he summoned Karl Tunberg to his office. Tunberg had served as president of the Screen Writers Guild, and Zimbalist wanted him to do the script. Tunberg demurred, saying he knew nothing about Ben-Hur. He hadn’t even read it. Sam waved him off. “Don’t worry about that,” Sam barked. “It’s a classic! That means nobody’s read it! We can do what we want with it!” We are now several months into the promo for Christopher Nolan’s Odyssey. I think we can declare the old system dead. John's latest for Compact Magazine.

Looking for something better than supermarket wines? Come to the Steubenville Grocery Box! To celebrate its new role as downtown Steubenville's purveyor of fine wines, they will be hosting their first ever wine tasting night! Bookmarx will be involved too: we are pairing each of their wines with a poem. Taste an ancient grape variety favored by Roman poets and emperors! Try a wine from a region celebrated by Sappho, one of the earliest of Greek poets. And lots more. This is a ticketed event, and one you won't want to miss!

Tickets are live for the Grocery Box's first ever wine tasting event!

Buy tickets here: https://www.simpletix.com/e/a-night-of-wine-tickets-273180

Join us at the Steubenville Grocery Box for an evening of wine tasting and appreciation led by John Kuhner of BookMarx Bookstore.

Light snack pairings and selected readings from antiquity will accompany a selection of old world and funky new world wines.

All ticket holders also get a discount on any bottle in the shop during the event!
