Obituary for Steven Allen Marquardt
Steven Allen Marquardt, known to many by his CB handle “Streak,” passed away on March 17th, 2026, in Sterling, Colorado, at the age of 56. Born on February 19th, 1970, in Sterling, Steve grew up in Merino, where he was raised by his parents Sharon and Clifford Marquardt alongside his brother Gerald Marquardt.
Steve was a devoted father, a memorable grandfather, a loving husband, and a loyal friend. He was the father of Samantha (Marquardt) Small, father‑in‑law to Desmond Small, and the deeply cherished grandfather of Kornelius and Ellowyn Small. His family was the center of his world, and he poured his heart into every moment he spent with them.
Steve shared many years of his life with Charity (Schram) Marquardt, Samantha’s mother. Though they separated in 2005, they remained connected through their daughter and the family they built together. In 2012, Steve found love again with Betty (Bailey) Marquardt, and the two married in 2024, beginning a new chapter filled with deep affection, partnership, and unwavering devotion. Through Betty, Steve embraced her family as his own: Bobby, Orion, Steven, Sheila, Tanna, Tatum, and Tinley Bailey, and much more family.
A graduate of Merino schools, Steve built a life defined by hard work and dedication. He spent many years as a semi‑truck driver, a career that suited his steady nature and love of the open road. Later, he became the proud owner of Steve’s NorthSide Pawn, where he welcomed customers with his signature warmth, humor, and generosity.
Steve lived life with enthusiasm and a spirit of adventure. He loved water skiing, riding his motorcycle, and flying his drone, but above all, he treasured time spent with the people he loved. He was a present and loving father, a wonderfully proud grandfather, and a steadfast friend who was always ready to lend a hand.
Steve is preceded in death by his father, Clifford Marquardt.
He is survived by his daughter Samantha, son‑in‑law Desmond, grandchildren Kornelius and Ellowyn, his wife Betty, her extended family, his mother Sharon, and his brother Gerald.
Steve’s legacy lives on in the countless lives he touched—with kindness, humor, loyalty, and love. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
