UPDATE: We have been doing some website maintenance and I'm happy to announce that we now accept payment via PayPal, Square, Apple Pay, Venmo and more. As always, we accept credit/debit cards and if you prefer, we will even accept payment by check. This is all part of our goal to provide the best experience and customer service possible.

We recently found out that production of the rubber grommets that we’ve used for decades was moved overseas. At the time, we had about two weeks worth of inventory left and a 3-4 month lead time from the manufacturer. With no other choice we set out to come up with a replacement. Our new door bushings are designed and manufactured in house using a carbon fiber polymer blend that is both strong and long lasting. Unlike the old rubber grommets, our new bushings are rigid and installation is much easier. Just insert them through the hinge pin hole in the cowl and then install the door. For those of you that have doors where the old rubber grommets failed resulting in damage to the cowl you may be able to “repair” the cowl using our new bushings, if there isn’t excessive wear to the cowl. All new orders are now being shipped with the new bushings and replacement bushings are available on our website.

For those of you that have older Dog Den 2s but have ordered new ones in the last couple of weeks you will notice a couple significant design changes. The first is the upgrade to the latches. We are now using a much larger and more reliable butterfly twist lock latch. Once locked in the closed position you have to deliberately unlock the latch and there is no way for them to come open unintentionally. We have actually been using this latch for about a year and the change has been well recieved.

The other significant change we’ve made is to what we call the top rail. The top rail is the steel edge that runs around the top of the wall where the lid sets. In the original version this top rail was made of seven separate pieces of steel that were riveted together. While this worked well we set out to come up with something even stronger, and we found it. The new top rail that you see in the picture is made of one sigle piece of galvanized steel that is CNC cut on a plasma table and then shaped using one large press die. The result is an even stronger and more durable version of the Dog Den 2.

Since we reintroduced the Dog Den 2 a little over a year ago demand has been so strong that we can't keep them in stock. With fall coming cold weather will be here before we know it, so we'd like to remind everyone that there is still a short lead time for the Dog Den 2. Currently, orders are shipping in 10 days or less but as cold weather approaches, demand increases and so does the lead time. If you are considering purchasing a Dog Den 2 now is a good time to order while the wait time is still relatively short. These 10 Dog Dens are headed to Texas to one of our many valued customers.

The last few weeks have been hectic but I‘m happy to report that we are assembling and shipping the long awaited Dog Den 2. We are working our way through the pre-order list and filling orders as we received them. Yesterday was moving day at K-9 Kondo. The guys at Troyer Enterprises did a fantastic job picking up the equipment with their crane and moving it to its new home. Thanks to them the move went better than I could have ever hoped for. The equipment you see is the same equipment that we use to turn domestically sourced materials into the American made products that we sell.
