Today, many of us will gather with family and friends.
There may be food on the grill, kids running through the yard, a flag moving quietly in the breeze, and the kind of ordinary moments that are easy to take for granted.
But Memorial Day reminds us that those ordinary moments were not free.
For many families, there is an empty spot at the barbecue.
An empty chair at the table.
A son, daughter, husband, wife, brother, sister, father, mother, or friend who put on the uniform, served this country, and never made it back home.
Those are the men and women we remember today.
Not in a loud way. Not with slogans. But with gratitude, humility, and the understanding that the freedoms we enjoy were protected by people who gave everything.
At Intervine, we are deeply grateful for those who serve, those who have served, and especially for the fallen heroes whose courage and sacrifice made days like today possible.
So wherever you are today, I hope you get a quiet moment to pause and remember them.
And if you are spending the day with people you love, I hope you hold them a little closer.
Because that is part of what they gave us.
A country where families can gather.
A day where we can remember.
And a freedom that should never be taken for granted.
With gratitude,
Mike McClary
