Puzzle with Me

Puzzle with Me Puzzle with Me™ is an innovative, therapeutic solution for caregivers to create quality time with Jane’s mother suffered with Alzheimer’s for many years.

Puzzle With Me is a therapeutic caregiving solution created by Jane Snyder, a mother and daughter whose family has been deeply impacted by Alzheimer’s disease. As her mother’s disease progressed, Jane found it more and more difficult to communicate and connect. After trying several activities Jane came upon the idea of helping her mother complete a mature puzzle. One challenge came in finding a pu

zzle with an appropriate image. All of the puzzles with fewer pieces had juvenile themes that were not dignified for an adult. Jane overcome this challenge and others, and Puzzle With Me was born!

The only stamps I use! I hope you do too....

Thanks to the efforts of fellow Help Stamp OUT Alzheimer's advocate, Kathy Siggins, the USPS issued the first ever Alzheimer’s Awareness commemorative stamp in October, 2008. The commemorative stamp, which has since been retired, was intended to increase public awareness of Alzheimer’s. The stamp features a person living with Alzheimer’s disease, while a caregiver rests her hand on her shoulder. The stamp’s background juxtaposes the sun in the clouds to darkening skies, signifying the declining effects of the disease.

At its unveiling, Postmaster General John Potter spoke these words: “With the Alzheimer’s Awareness commemorative stamp, we’ll ask Americans to use the power of mail to raise awareness about this tragic disease. We hope to draw attention to the causes of the disease, the impact it has on individuals, caregivers and society, and how research may eventually lead to treatments that prevent or halt the progression of the disease.”

Won't you ask YOUR representatives to create a semipostal that raises not only awareness, but also funds for a cure? Call or email your representatives and urge them to co-sponsor H.R. 3092, The Alzheimer’s Disease Semipostal Stamp Act. Contact information may be found @ http://www.contactingthecongress.org.

The costs of Alzheimer's go far beyond monetary value. This is just one of many reasons that it is so important for us to work together to find a cure.
