Ok, so absolutely huge news here! And just a warning, this is going to be a long post, written with tears, gratitude, excitement, and happiness.
As some of you know, Amy and I (Mary), along with our fur baby Pickle, made the big decision to move full-time to Palm Springs, CA this past June. We wanted a new adventure and clear that we didn't want to be absentee owners.
We fully anticipated this would be a process, and it was essential that the new owner take on the task of first managing UM to make sure they loved the store as much as we have. I mean this was our baby, built from the ground up and it was essential that anyone managing or buying our business shared the same values and would deeply care about our staff, our awesome customers, the creatives and brands we work with, in addition to being invested in the community. Amber checked all of those boxes.
Our working relationship with Amber started in 2018, and while sometimes intermittent, she has stayed involved with the store. Fast forward to 2024, when we started thinking about selling the store, Amber was our absolute first choice.
So effective tomorrow, May 1, Amber is a small business owner. The store will continue to be fabulous and stocked with wonderful items for you and those you care about. Please show your support by stopping by to meet Amber.
As for our future plans, Amy and I fully anticipate opening a new store, although we currently don't have a location or even a new business name. If you want to stay in touch, please follow our personal Instagram pages, Amy and Mary .
