1980 Gibson Les Paul Heritage Standard model
The 1980 Gibson Les Paul Heritage Standard 80 is one of the most historically important modern Gibson Les Pauls. It was Gibson's first serious attempt to recreate the legendary late-1950s Sunburst Les Pauls and is often regarded as the ancestor of all later Historic Reissue models.
Key Features;
-Mahogany body with a carved two-piece figured maple top
-Mahogany neck with a substantial late-'50s style profile
-Rosewood fingerboard with trapezoid inlays
-ABR-1 bridge and stop tailpiece
-Patent-number humbuckers,
-Tim Shaw pickups
-Nitrocellulose lacquer finish
-No weight relief (typically quite heavy by modern standards)
The Heritage 80 series was produced in relatively small numbers from approximately 1980–1982 and represented a major shift away from typical Norlin-era Les Paul construction. Gibson returned to features such as mahogany necks and more vintage-correct tops, making these guitars highly desirable to players and collectors.
Many enthusiasts particularly seek examples with original Tim Shaw pickups because they are considered among the best vintage-inspired humbuckers Gibson produced during that era.
